Summary

As heroes and villains seek to secure the seven godblades, the greatest evil to threaten Kingfall draws ever closer.

Six of the seven godblades have been revealed, but is Kingfall any safer than it was before these ancient weapons were returned to the light? This and myriad other questions must be answered before the world can know true peace.

In the east, Sampson Gaard and his unexpected band of traveling companions must navigate the dangers of the Spine as they seek the source of the strange force drawing them ever onward. Meanwhile, Roman Leary, burned and scarred beyond recognition, searches for a purpose even he cannot hope to understand.

In the west, Peony faces a newer, darker version of her bondmate, Dane, as well as a looming threat of war from her own brother, the newly crowned king of Odin. Dane, on the other hand, fights to restore his bond to the only creature in all of Kingfall who truly understands him, his dragon, Daneus.

In the north, Rose grapples with the political pressures inherent in her role as queen, while simultaneously staving off the demons of her past. At the same time, Drake searches for answers to explain the resurrection of his dragonbond, Draconus.

In the south, Aisling, Amari, and Prudence seek safe passage to Avadon, only to find themselves facing an enemy worse than any they've encountered thus far in the form of Pentockian slavers.

Be bright, but do not burn. Embrace the shadows, but do not live in the darkness.

42 hours long… but not long enough.

Amazing entry. Got a little too drama-y at some points but the way it all comes together is superb. A lot of deaths in this one too… Bring on book 5!

Fantastic and gripping

This was an absolutely fantastic and gripping read. I had a hard time every single time I had to put it down, and could not wait to pick it back up so I could continue the story. That fact, and the excellent narration, made me very glad I opted for the audio version, which meant I could get extra reading time in by listening while doing things like making dinner. If you love the kind of fantasy stories involving dragons and magic you need to read this book!

Entertaining Series

I really like this series, the characters are a varied mix of different folks all moving toward an end of sorts. History is well provided and getting back story can go a long way towards enriching the story. I would recommend this series and can't wait till the final book.

Kills random irrelevant characters

It’s like the author just has to kill people off just to develop the main characters of the book. That’s fine if the characters that died were relevant! No, they come out of no where, get to know the main characters for like a single day and then die. Somehow this random character dying totally shakes up the main characters like they’ve known then their whole life. It’s unbelievable and annoying and doesn’t develop the story at all

Absolutely amazing!!!!

This 4th installment is still as good as the previous installments. TGR is still the greatest narrator of all time! David Estes still showing his prowess with interesting and growing characters. Sad I have to wait a year to finish this series. only had a few problems with story choices, but hope it comes to pass.

spoilers/gripes
the first problem I had was with Amarii Gaard
her death felt very unfair given what she did and gone through, would have liked to see her reunion with samson, but o well.
Samson still didn't get enough page time, but hey he's slowly being unparalyzed so that's a thing.
Peoni Normandian is still my favorite, but maybe switching sides mid battle after chopping through your brothers men would hopefully have repercussions. that's all for now still love it!!!

Look I liked it....

I listen to so many books, I found that I needed to start writing reviews more for myself to read in the future, so that when the next books in a series come out I can determine if Id like to keep listening to them.
I'm going to label this one as a 'continue reading'... I am invested in the story, but I do feel ilke it is WAY too long. I realize there are a bunch of story lines that David is trying to write out, and include in the books, but man, there were quite a few times I thought about putting it down and just stopping because the story didnt feel like it was going anywhere.

Honestly the prologues were better than the story in the book for me :)

absolutely amazing in every way!

Once again, Mr. Estes has met every standard I have for what I consider a great fantasy novel. He has captured the essence of "on the edge of my seat" with this continuation of what was already a fantastic story. I found myself pounding on my steering wheel and giving out a yell when the book took a turn in a way I was either pleased or not pleased with. It has real depth and draws on both humor and tragedy. The characters are loveable. hateable and sometimes both! it'll be on my re- read list for certain!!

Does not disappoint

I waited a long time for the audio version to be released it was worth the wait. This is one of those stories that you know must end but you really don’t want it to end. The Kingfall series delivers real characters abilities and disabilities
