Excellent book
Mhairi McFarlane's books keep getting better and better. The narrator was very good too.
The subject matter is probably one that many women will identify with. Three story is both moving and funny and I cried and laughed in equal measure. Highly recommend.

Book + narrator = perfection!
I absolutely loved this book. All of this author’s books are winners but this was beautifully narrated in keeping with the region it’s set in. Didn’t want it to finish!

Superb storytelling and narration
Brilliant. Very well written and crafted. Great storytelling. Excellent characters. A few unexpected twists and turns and introductions of new characters to keep interest high. As a northern lass myself I loved the northern humour. The dialogue and the way the narrator put across the different accents was fantastic. Mhairi McFarlane at the top of her game. Give yourself a treat. A great winter/ Christmas read.

Loved the feminist undertone
Great book! It touched on hard and sensitive subjects in a way that was accessible and relatable. I think it could have been more concise, there were just parts where the scene or chapter didn't add to the overall story and could have been left out.

She's only gone and smashed it again!
Loved, loved, loved. Only Mhairi McFarlane can elicit a Taylor Swift range of emotions in my stone cold heart. This book is SMART and funny and deeply moving and I hate that it's going to be labelled "chick lit"!

Make sure you read this book if you are about to get married.
Having been divorced three times, how l wish this book had been available back in the day. Although at first this appears to be a light hearted take on the ‘traditional wedding day’, beneath the dress, bridesmaids and paraphernalia lies the crux of the problem, the groom. The main character Harriet ironically a wedding photographer has seen it all, until the day she is booked to snap photos of the wedding where the groom runs away! This novel takes you on a journey of the good, the bad and the downright ugly. Helping you to understand feelings we meet during our lives as we swerve commitment with one, yet want to run up the aisle with another. If you’re having second thoughts, buy this book now!

A new author for me. I’ll be seeking out more from her. What a feel good modern read woven with wit and fabulous one liners.
