Summary

They think as one. They act as one. They kill as one.

Look Both Ways is devilishly good – exciting, thrilling – Barclay at his best!’ SHARI LAPENA, No. 1 internationally bestselling author

The residents of Garrett Island are part of a ground-breaking experiment. For a month, their cars will be replaced by self-driving vehicles – voice-controlled, comfortable and safe.

Single mum Sandra is prepping for the huge media event, and she’s ready for a driverless future. Widowed after her husband fell asleep at the wheel, she’s relieved that her kids may never need to drive themselves.

But as the day gets underway, disaster strikes. A journalist vanishes, possibly murdered. And before long, it’s clear something is very wrong. The cars are no longer taking orders from their passengers. They’re starting to organise. They’re starting to hunt. And they’ve got the residents of Garret Island in their sights.

From the Sunday Times Number One bestseller Linwood Barclay comes a breakneck new thriller, Look Both Ways.

‘If “Jurassic Park but with autonomous automobiles” sounds like a very cool concept, that’s because it is’ FINANCIAL TIMES

Really really really really boring

I listened to Broken Promise by Linwood Barclay and really loved it, so, I thought I'd try another one of his books. It was intriguing for about 5 minutes, once the cars became so rediculously self aware and then listening to hours of boring descriptions of them causing havoc, I gave up 7 hours in. It was actually irritating to listen to. It's just like a basic kids book apart from a small amount of swearing. Don't write off the author though, Broken Promise is really good.

Another success

I have every Linwood Barclay book! Look both ways was another success, great narration and I for one won’t be getting in a driverless vehicle……ever!!! Linwood Barclay is the master of suspense who manages to surprise you even when you think you’ve guessed the plot!

Very entertaining

As Mr Barclay states at the begin it is not his usual fare, but enjoyable nonetheless. It reminded me a little of Dean Koontz early work (when there was an ‘R’ in the middle of his name!).

Started OK but quickly collapsed into farce

An interesting concept presented at the beginning, but it developed into nonsense quickly. I was determined to finish the book and tried a number of times, but it became too 'painful' in the end to go back one more time for the conclusion.
