Summary
Her bloody finger left a translucent smear on the phone screen as she glanced through the list of private investigators in Vegas.
Her stained nail came to rest on Sin City Investigations. Jim Bean would serve her well.
Private investigator Jim Bean is a straightforward, to-the-point man. He likes his cases to follow suit. But when his latest client, Sophie Evers, asks him to find her brother Daniel, Jim has no idea how complicated his life is about to become. As he falls deep into a manipulative game of cat and mouse, Jim uncovers the horrible truth about Sophie. Now he must set things right before her plan leads to the loss of innocent souls...even more than it already has.
Critic reviews
"Her plotting and pacing will keep you up long after Proust and Henry James have rocked you to sleep. Stay tuned for a series that promises many, many more troubled dreams." (Kirkus Reviews)
"That wonderful and rare combination of high-speed suspense and complex, richly drawn characters will keep you on the edge of your seat." (Jeffery Deaver, New York Times best-selling author)
"19 Souls is one terrific read. With a great plot, engaging characters, and a crackling voice, this book has everything. I dare you to put it down after you start reading." (John Gilstrap, New York Times best-selling author)

Quite liked this
The narrator was very good. The plot was a bit silly and I had a few issues with the incompetence of the authorities re: the safe house. However, it was interesting enough to hold my attention, although the ending was a bit flat. I wasn’t keen on the misogynistic attitude of the protagonist- a bit disappointing, especially from a female author.

Deadlier than the Male
Unexpected tale of what dark ambition can achieve. Superb narration (A T Chandler AKA Aiden Snow) kept the action and drama popping, keeping the listener totally off kilter and on the edge of your seat as to what this author can throw at you next. No punches are pulled. Offbeat, themes, where a chaotic mind creates it's own kama. Shocking in places. Every sacred cow slaughtered.
Jim, a PI with a cute kitty, who is too at home with a bottle, encounters Ava career "LadyFed" in pursuit of the demonic female killer/rapist Sophie. My first time with this author, but I'm off to investigate Book 2 now.
Darkly comedic. SO ENTERTAINING

Knicker Melting Narrator!
This is the first book of J.D. Allen that I've read/listened to and I must say, that I love her writing style and I find myself laughing out loud a lot. Some parts in the story are a bit far fetched, but somehow I don't mind because mostly it's a believable tale and I can't stop listening to it!
I will definitely devour this entire series, I'll devour anything read by A.T. Chandler( Including the man himself if I had half the chance!) Not only has he got the best voice ever blessed on a man, but he's also a brilliant performer to boot and is absolutely perfect for Sin City Investigations!

Very strange
I couldn’t work out whether this was intended to be a true thriller or a comedy. I wonder if it was written by two authors. Jim’s side was serious and convincing but Sophie’s was farcical and comical. Seemingly striving to be the baddest of baddies!

Terrific Read
very engaging plot lines, satisfying character descriptions and interactions. A wee bit gruesome at times if you're more into 'cosy' but lived it from beginning to end.

Make it 20 souls - this was soul sucking
Ended abruptly. I was tired of the story too but in two sentences it was concluded.

typical pi story
Not the genre I typically listen to so probably just me but I think this story is a little long for itself... it was very predictable and a bit cliche... worth the read however I won't be listening to the rest of the sin city books... I will however look for other books performed by A T Chandler...

only 19 souls?
it'sa really good book although in places I think a bit of condensing would have worked wonders. maybe it was just me but I thought the story just seemed to drag on a little in spots..

interesting story
I appreciate that this story took on a subject that's rarely spoke upon. Men that face dangers from women but will rarely tell of these misfortunes because of a stigma attached or concerns of not being taken seriously. I was intrigued and kept engaged.
