Summary
In an ordinary day, a devastating event will change lives forever.
Alex Reid, a member of the US Coast Guard, is on the brink of divorce. On the day his wife arrives on the east coast to have him sign papers, the nation's crippled by a string of increasingly bizarre disasters. When the internet, communication, and power grid goes down, and explosions erupt across America, they soon find themselves fighting to stay alive. Desperate to protect family, together they're forced to venture across a chaotic and powerless country in search of their daughter. As the world ends and panic takes hold, they must overcome more challenges than a broken marriage to survive.
As Our World Ends is book one in the Cyber Apocalypse series, a post-apocalyptic survival thriller that follows a husband and wife as they fight to stay alive after an unknown attacker destroys the country and power supply.

Movie script ?
While I was reading this story I could imagine myself sitting in the theater watching it on the big screen.
It has it all.

Well, ...
I was SUPPOSED to have received this free in exchange for an honest review, but it burned one of my credits, which is not okay. I will not spend credit after credit on short books in a series full of short books so I will be returning it. I have had this problem before with Audible not recognizing auth codes, so I certainly don't think there was any trickery. I actually liked the story and the characters, but this is very obviously the first in a series as there is no resolution to anything. In a bundle I would purchase it, but as a single, no.

Spending the Apocalypse with Your Ex
After listening to and enjoying Jack Hunt's 'Lone Survivor' series, and seeing this book listed for download as a review copy, I decided to see what this series would be like. This is my voluntary review after giving it a listen.
'As Our World Ends' is the first installment in the series 'Cyber Apocalypse'. In it, Alex and Sophie are a couple on the brink of divorce. When power failure and other mysterious disasters begin to happen, they decide to find their daughter together. Meanwhile, Elisha, their daughter, is in California, the opposite coast from her parents. This is the story of whether this broken family can come back together after the nation's devastation.
Throughout this book, it's a mystery as to the cause of what's happening, but there is one scene that explains one part of it. When I got to that section I thought, 'That's a thing? They can do that!?!' I had never heard of this type of destruction before. Definitely scary and completely believable.
A lot of my enjoyment of the book stems from the relationship between Alex and Sophie. We'll discover throughout the series if this couple, who were poised to have their divorce be final, can make it across the country together. Already they are pushing each other's buttons to keep on-going arguments alive. I really like the dynamic Mr. Hunt has set in motion during this first book.
Of course, there are plenty of violent encounters with bad guys. How all of the main characters deal with these situations fill the book with suspense and action. Lots of roller-coaster thrills to be had in this one. There's an elliptical quality to the book that add a sense of completion, even knowing it's just the first chapter of a bigger story.
Kevin Pierce is the quintessential voice of the apocalypse and does not disappoint here. I couldn't imagine him doing a better job. His performance is perfection in every way.
Recommended.

A first installment
It’s hard to tell if this is about the end of the world... there is definitely an apocalypse in the background. A mysterious one. But really, it seems to be more about the characters having contentious relationships and gangs, drug lords and crime. I figure 95% of it could happen pretty much anytime... although maybe not at once.
It’s also very much a first installment. The mysteries, relationships, and even the central theme (a road trip) are all to be continued... something I’ve come to hate about sci-fi these days.
I received a free copy of the book in exchange for a review.

Top notch story from a top notch author hands down
The story is very well written and keeps you interested during the ramped up excitement and even during the calm times, which there isn’t many of! If you like post apocalyptic or survival stories this is the book for you!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review

Another great PA series starts
There is nothing better than a great PA disaster series. This is the best genre in all of audio. And this is no exception. The story revolves around a broken family, and an incoming foster child, as they navigate an attack on America. It's not entirely made clear if the attack is strictly an EMP, but it does appear that the attack is terrorist in nature. There are explosions in major cities, communication interruptions, and crime all over. All the while, the nuclear family that was in ruins has to navigate the disaster together, and in different locations for some. So, it will be interesting to see where they end up as the series progresses.
Kevin Pierce is the quintessential voice of the apocalypse. He's always in his element. And this is no exception. He's always at the top of his game any time he narrates.

Great Apocalypse Novels
I very much enjoyed this take on the apocalypse genre. The story written from multiple points of view and tracks from how different characters/people types may react to the situation.
The narration was excellent, easy to listen to and understand.
I've already started on book 2 of the series.

Good Start to a Series
I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of As Our World Ends - A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Thriller (Cyber Apocalypse, Book 1) by Jack Hunt and narrated by Kevin Pierce. I liked the story and the narration was superlative. It is a good beginning to a series. I liked the character development and there are plenty of ups and downs. It left me looking forward to the next book in the series.

East Coast to West Cost California bound
Not done with the first one but I want to follow Father and estranged wife fighting to get to California to find their daughter. Action packed from two points of view. Some violence - actually a lot of violence real quick. Drug gangs and cyber plots to ruin America. What can go wrong? Intense story. Love it so far.

1st entry in a new Post Apocalyptic series
As Our World Ends is the first book in a new post apocalyptic series by Jack Hunt. The book hits all the beats you've come to want and expect from a PA thriller, featuring a solid cast of likable characters dropped into extraordinary circumstances. Hunt does add quite the unique wrinkle in the source of the 'end of world as we know it' event, and I'll be interested to see if that gets explored more as the series ago along or if was merely just an interesting catalyst to kick off the downfall of man. The book is narrated by Kevin Pierce who does an excellent job as always.

1st of Series
I love post-apocalyptic books without zombies with good narration. I enjoyed the characters of Alex and Sophie Reid, foster child Ryan, Elisha, Liam, and Garcia (a cop). Alex, Sophie (who complains nonstop) and Ryan head to California to get to their daughter Elisha after the catastrophic event and run into many problems. Elisha and Liam were trapped under a pile of rubble from surrounding buildings until Garcia get them out. Can’t wait until As Our Worlds Fall come out on audible
