Summary

One week.

Home alone.

Girl genius.

Unrepentant slacker.

Big lie.

What’s the worst that could happen?

Mona is a smart girl and figured everything out a long time ago. She had to. She didn’t have a choice. When your parents are uber-celebrities and you graduate from high school at 15, finish college at 18, and start your PhD program at 19, you don’t have time for distractions outside of your foci. Even fun is scheduled. Which is why Abram, her brother’s best friend, is such an irritant.

Abram is a talented guy, a supremely gifted musician, and has absolutely nothing figured out, nor does he seem to care. He does what he feels, when he feels, and—in Mona’s opinion—he makes her feel entirely too much.

This is the bundled version of the Laws of Physics trilogy and includes parts one through three (Motion, Space, and Time).

So good!!

I’m not typically a fan of NA (too much angst and miscommunication) but this was done very well! Yes, the fretting and overthinking and getting mad instead of having a conversation are present. However, Reid does this in a way that makes sense for the age and life circumstances of the characters. I really appreciated that the characters’ issues are not quickly resolved after sex it being in love. Overall well worth the listen.
Warning - Fiona Fischer, as always, mispronounces sooooo many words and outs the emphasis on the wrong words in a sentence. Any time I listen to a book she reads I just prepare myself to be annoyed at her. I’m not sure why no one is working with her as it is an ongoing issue!
Again, even with her misreading it is a very good book!

Love how the author ties books together

I totally didn’t know that the Mari in this book is the same from the knitting series. They caught the business, the security business, reference, but I did not catch that. These were actually the knitting ladies. though this series is OK, the knitting series takes the cake.

A new favorite to connect them all

I highly recommend listening/reading Penny Reid's other books before listening/reading this one, because this book actually involves and mentions other characters from her different books! I was extremely happy when they merged with this stories main characters seamlessly. The story was (much like all her other books) supremely enjoyable, smart, and hilarious. I definitely recommend all to read/listen to all of Penny Reid's novels.

Wow I loved this story and presentation

I listened in all available time. I am in the minority as a STEM man who loves romance stories. this story captured the male view very well. I loved the family and friends interactions. I am in a hurry to find the next Audible from Penny in the series.

Epic NA Story

I read this trilogy when it came out and those cliffies were brutal! Having all three books packaged into one audiobook is a blessing - worth every Penny!

The story features two of my favorite archetypes: the young, brilliant, beautiful, scientist who is socially awkward but steadfast, and the super hot, brilliant, talented, and soulful rock star as her love interest. They both have access to boatloads of financial resources which makes things easier and the settings luxurious, but they are down to earth and humble about that part. They both recognize and take full advantage of their privilege.

Angsty but honest, I love the character growth from both of them.

The audio narration was perfect. I’ll listen to Jacob Morgan read the phone book and Fiona Fischer perfectly encapsulates Mona’s brain, whit, and quirky personality.

If you’re looking for a quality long listen, pick this one up today!

how to be vulnerable, how to be authentic

Wow, this may have just become my favorite Penny Reid novel (and that is saying a lot--she is 'emotional intelligence brilliance' personified). Relatable personality traits of the main characters: nerdiness, sensitivity, logic-brain (she), creative-brain (he), shyness, shame, being different from others.

Reid unobtrusively packed this novel with current knowledge about psychology, attachment, relationships, sex therapy, trauma therapy, healthy boundaries, the nature of love, being strong vs being vulnerable, what it can mean to "be authentic," how scary that can be. There is an awesome natural respect and courage around feminine power and "softness."

This novel is like watching a living example of How two people can connect (love) when their own fears and issues are solidly in place to "protect" them. It's like a walking couples therapy lesson. And the side characters bring in some great examples of how family can grow and learn to treat each other, how to be a friend, etc. I loved it.

Stunning readers too. Man, did they read these parts well. Both excellent.
