Summary

I’ve wanted Gunnar forever...and it’s time for him to see that I’m not a kid, anymore.

I grew up in Hell’s Ankhor, and even though I’m 25, they all still see me as Ankh and Priest’s kid. Especially Gunnar. The Sargent has known me for years and watched me grow up. I would give anything to have him see me as the man I’ve become, instead of the scrawny boy I used to be, but it’s never going to happen.

I need to face the fact that Gunnar will never be mine, but when a devastating revelation sweeps through the club and cuts me to the core, he’s the one I turn to. And just when it seems like things might change between us, a threat from a rival MC puts me in the crosshairs.

We can fight any battle that comes at us, but can I make Gunnar believe that our relationship is really strong enough to face any challenge? Or, will new dangers and old fears break our hearts and put the club at risk?

it's just the beginning

Argh! I love Raven! He's so strong, smart, clever and caring. He almost cares too much. I felt for him every time Gunnar jerked him around and while "I get" why Gunnar did what he did it still sucked for Raven. I did like that these two did talk it out quite early in their "relationship" and thankfully both were honest and there was next to know stupid "he doesn't want me" back and forth without actually talking. There was just their own insecurities and worries from their own pasts and thoughts which I thought was done really well and added a new level of authenticity and "realness" to the story. it endeared me to Gunnar and Raven even more!

I really like how this series is set up so far and how we're given a taste of the next book and couple as their hints are weaved into this story! it's really well done and I can't wait to find out more about the happy go lucky Coop!

good listen

Only thing I disliked was that some of the characters sounded too much alike but overall it wasn't that bad of a listen. Well worth the credit.

Great story, but Gunnar's insecurity got tiresome

I was eager for this story to come out because I really wanted to know more about Raven after the first book. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in the relationship between Raven and Gunnar. Raven has loved Gunnar for years, but Gunnar thinks of him as a kid. There is innate attraction between them, but Gunnar fights what he feels due to loyalty to Raven's late father and his own feelings of low self-esteem. There was so much back and forth, angst, and insecurity that keeps them at odds and results in Raven making some very risky and foolish moves. I loved the underlying story about Raven's father and the mystery of what really happened when he died. There were a lot of intriguing twists. and I liked seeing how the club hierarchy worked and how justice was served. Bottom line, although the back and forth between Raven and Gunnar got a little tiresome, I still love Raven's intelligence and computer skills. I'm looking forward to finding out more about Luke/Rebel in the next book.

The narration was great, but definitely softer than you might expect to hear from MC members, except for Bane. I liked it, but if you prefer your MC characters to have low, cigarette-rough voices, it might not be for you.

Great Narration!

I enjoyed a lot this age gap story. Raven in my opinion is one of the best characters I've read in the series, his attitude in life and his determination while confronting difficult situations are my favorite part of the story. He and Gunnar finding each other in all the chaos, while learning acceptance and how to love was really, really sweet to witness. In addition the voice and performance of Mr Hart made justice to the characters and the story... a great narration!

I loved Gunnar.

I loved Gunnar, There’s something about unrequited love and proving yourself. I love the narrator’s voice and pace. I like that he used different voices for dialogue but the narration part was the same. The story was hot and sexy which I love. I definitely enjoyed listening to this audio and recommend it.

Sexy and exciting!

This story here was so sexy and exciting! Aiden and Ali have done it again with another great story!

The plot was thick with intrigue. The twists and turns kept me curious and excited for more. The characters were deep and cut raw with emotion. The were very well developed and interesting.

The story was awesome, and the steamy scenes were enticing and yummy.

The narration was excellent! Crisp, clear and concise! I understood everything and loved the passion and emphasis in the narrators voice! I really enjoyed every bit of it!

Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda did some nice work on Gunnar. Loved the character, story can stand on its own. Thomas Hart did amazing work with the narration. Will keep an eye open for book 3.

Love this series

I was hooked on this story and pairing of Raven and Gunnar since the teaser excerpt in Blade and it did not disappoint. It was hard to watch these two circle each other for so long, trying to get past the demons from Afghanistan and the murder of Ankh. It was totally believable that Gunnar would turn out to be a gentle soul trying to protect Raven from the burden of doing violence to Bane and it was equally believable that Raven would read it all wrong as still being thought of as a kid, unworthy of adult responsibility in the club and its business. The pace of this one is slower in a sense than that of Blade but it fits the overarching theme of the ways violence can corrode the soul. The ending shower scene when Gunnar finally opens up was exactly the payoff their story needed. The underlying plot with the Vipers and the human trafficking operation is very well done. Each book brings us a bit closer to the core of the mystery and to how the ring will be brought down. I love that we get more details here and a real shocker of a reveal at the end that I never saw coming, which promises that Coop and Rebel's story is going to be fantastic! Off to grab that one now. Thomas Hart does a great job with these characters. It can't be easy voicing so many Alpha male types and making them distinct and recognizable but he does it and also brings out all the stresses and emotions the characters are going through.

Deep, action packed, and steamy!

Raven- tech geek, raised in the club from infancy by his dad (the prez) and his pops (the vp), carries a crush on Gunnar who helped train him up when he was a kid. Gunnar - a man with a bloody past and future, enforcer and Sargent for the club, hiding deep feelings for Raven, who is totally off limits. This story has a fantastic plot, with threads of a deep bond finally forming after years of crushing and denying. The death of Ravens dad and president of the MC is investigated and the whole club is in turmoil. The action is amazing- if a bit bloody and gritty, the relationship is genuine, the bedroom (shower, garage) scenes are smoking hot, and the characters are really well written. The audio book is read well, but I personally prefer books read with clear differences in character voices - which this one does not have.

Narration did not fit the story type

For some reason the narrator DID NOT seem to fit the way the story should be told. Maybe because he was to mechanical in nature or maybe I just didn’t enjoy his voice. The story is great just not the narrator, sorry.

Great story!

Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda are a beautiful writing duo. Gunnar is the second book in the Hell's Ankhor series and boy was this story hot. There was suspense and lots of steam to make you want to keep reading.

When Raven's father died, Raven was heartbroken. When he begins to receive emails from an unknown source that his father's death was no accident, he begins to investigate on his own. He doesn't want anyone in Hell's Ankhor to know anything about what he's doing, especially Gunnar. He has had a crush on Gunnar for a while now, but Gunnar is older and he thinks Gunnar doesn't see him that way. He had a moment with Gunnar a year earlier and was rejected so he wants to show Gunnar and everyone else he can do find out what happened on his own. He wants to show that he's an adult and can handle adult responsibilty. When Gunnar does find out, he makes it his mission to help Raven get the answers he needs and deserves. In the end we see Gunnar really open up and help Raven see his true feelings. Will Raven, Gunnar and the rest of the Hell's Ankhor club get the answers they are searching for?

This was a low angst, well-written book. The details behind the Vipers biker club and the human trafficking ring gives us more insight into the storylines before and after this story and why the backstory is so imperative to the series. This does have a cliffhanger for the next book, but it was definitely setup in a way that will lead the reader into Rebel and Coop's story.

Age gap, Motorcycle Club. Steamy goodness!

I really enjoyed this audiobook. Who doesn’t love a little age gap and forbidden relationships? Raven and Gunnar have both carried secret crushes on the other. They knew it was hands off, but man did they wish it were different. Especially when the crush grows to something more. One night, when Raven does something reckless, Gunnar decides to act upon his feelings. This story is about Rayven and Gunnar’s complication relationship, but it’s also about finding out what really happened to Raven’s dad. It was ruled an accident, but someone is trying to point Raven to another dangerous conclusion. The narration if this book was enjoyable. I felt like Thomas Hart did a great job with the characters and bringing the story to life.

A Must Listen

This one was a little emotional....
This picks up where the last book ended, and Raven is on the hunt! Dealing with the emotions of his dad death and the crazy signals Gunnar is throwing up, Raven digs at your heart.
Gunnar has his own issues that he is struggling with, so what we end up with is tears and steamy chemistry.

Thomas Hart did an excellent job with the voices.

Gunnar & Raven

I really enjoyed this book and it’s a great follow up to the first in this series although it can also be read as a stand alone. Gunnar and Raven are great together and I really enjoyed all the sexual tension between them and watching them finally start to get their acts together and start a real relationship. The overall focus of the story was sad and difficult for all the members of the MC but at least it seemed to help Gunnar and Raven finally come together. I’m really looking forward to getting Rebel’s story next. The narrator did great with the characters and the story. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.
