Summary

Milo.

Unusual. Quirky. Different. I’ve heard it all. I’ve accepted I’m not for everyone. Maybe not anyone. When I find out I inherited a bookstore and apartment on a small East Coast island, I jump at the chance for a new life. Turns out I’ve also inherited a sexy, tattooed guy who not only rents the space next to my store for his tattoo parlor but my apartment too.

Did I mention he’s really hot? And surprisingly sweet?

Gideon.

I wasn’t looking for a roommate, but it’s not like I can stay at Milo’s place while he’s banished to a hotel. Our unlikely friendship is instant. According to Milo, we’re bestie goals. And if he doesn’t wear pants at home, who am I to complain?

Milo’s not like anyone I’ve ever known. I like laughing and flirting with him. He’s adorably honest, eager, and sexier than he realizes. Now, I just have to figure out how to convince him that maybe it’s time for an upgrade from bestie to boyfriend goals.

Quirky romance

Where do we start with Milo, quirky, unique, neurodivergent, who is also the nicest, bluntest person you would want to know.

Then we have Gideon (Tattoo man). He's hot, tattooed and available, and hot.

Together you have the most honest friendship you could get, which is so refreshing.

Iggy Toma did a wonderful job at narrating these two, bringing them alive and had me smiling throughout the book.

Touching and sweet

I loved the characters and how they reacted in the face of the different way Milo sees the world. It made me smile so much and the narration was perfect. Milo and Gideon are adorable characters and I just wanted them to work it all out.

Cringe-fest

On paper this sounds like a great story but sadly the writing for Milo is very weird and makes him super awkward and cringe. I'm all for eccentricity but I couldn't even get past chapter 3.

A different lovestory

I fell in love with Milo from the first chapter. He is so perfectly different, vulnerable and strong in his own way. Gideon is his perfect match and he too fell in love right from meeting Milo, even if he didn't know it yet. Milo's character is refreshing and beautifully portrayed and I simply loved his complete honesty even if it got him in triuble sometimes.

Iggy Toma was the perfect narrator for this book. He gave life to all Milo's quirks and Gideons complete acceptance of them.

Loved Milo!!!

So, when this book was first released, I kept telling myself I was going to make time to read it. Well, life happens and I became overwhelmed with arcs, so I turned to the next best thing, audiobooks. And boy, was I so not disappointed!! This book was everything! It was hilarious, sexy, and diving into neurodivergent was definitely appreciated!

“𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗲, 𝗜 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻”

So Milo and Gideon were the epitome of perfection! Gideon’s patience with Milo’s quirks, along with his hesitancy regarding intimacy, filled my heart with so much joy. Not to mention Iggy did an amazing job of nailing Milo’s character performance just as I would have envisioned. The realism of these two, from their sexual exploration to their simple intimate moments, ten stars!!

Warm and Sweet with Outstanding Narration

I'm glad I chose the audio for this story as Iggy Toma gives a highly enjoyable voice performance for all characters, including the women's voices. I always sink into a story read by his voice and this is no exception.

The basic storyline is fairly simple but navigating from roommates to friends to lovers is complex. Milo is neurodivergent, on the autism spectrum. He strikes out on his own when his previously unknown-to-him grandmother passes away and leaves her bookstore to him. The shop next door and the one available apartment are rented by Gideon, a very hot, very sweet tattoo artist.

Those who enjoy sexual exploration should enjoy this. Milo knows he's gay but he and Gideon spend a lot of time teaching Milo all the sexual acts in person that he's previously only read about. Get the picture? Yes, it's hot. But it's also entertaining and enjoyable in other ways. The secondary characters play an important role and move the story along. I enjoyed it so much I zipped through it in only two days--quite fast for me for audios. If you plan to purchase this one, do so in audio. You won't regret the choice.

more physical description of male leads

would like a much more vivd description of the main character,s physical attributes, i.e. penis sizes and a direct comparison of them, testicle sizes and a direct comparison, biceps 💪 descriptions and comparison, chest hair yes or know and direct comparison, pec description and hairy or no, abs description and hairy or no, armpit description and hairy or no, definitely need to know which main character has biggest biceps, pecs penis teaticles and whether or not they hang or tight against the body

I about died laughing

I'm neurodivergent so I really related a lot to this character, Milo, in many ways. When I first started it, the books starts so randomly with Milo complaining and it annoyed me. I thought I would hate the book. But very quickly, I realized what was going on and understood where all the commentary was coming from. And, because he's so honest there were times I almost peed myself laughing because I swear to you I've been yelled at by my own mother for making similar comments and I could just picture people's expressions. In fact, when I was in middle school, I asked relatives about s*x including if they had s*x before marriage and I thought it was weird that people would be bothered that I was asking that question. I'm pretty high functioning but I can't always read a room or get people's jokes and honestly, I know I can be annoying. Like Milo, I know I'm not for everyone. But that's why Gideon is also a really refreshing character. I'm used to people saying I have to be or act a certain way and I don't always understand why. But Gideon actually enjoys Milo for who he is. He rolls with the situations, doesn't mind certain quirks, thinks the honesty and perspective Milo has are refreshing, and thinks Milo is funny and fun to be around in stead of annoying or fun to laugh at. Not all neurodivergent people are like Milo and not all neurotypical people are like Gideon but this story was funny, realistically relatable, was not ableist (thank goodness for that), was pretty hot, and shows that there is someone out there for everyone and it is someone who respects and loves you in stead of limits you. you can't help but love these characters, admire their stories, and situation their communication. I definitely recommend this book.

Very pedestrian, not awful but good enough.

I think the representation of autism was done very well I don't think the execution of this relationship was.
I would have liked to have seen love blossom instead of them having sex right away and pretty much all the time.
Instead of making the relationship sweet or endearing and made it fell sleazy.
I think the character of Milo was very precious and I would love to read more about him unfortunately his counterpart was pretty one-dimensional.
I also think the narration was horrible.
Milo sounded too young and this author lacks a lower register and while he does try to differentiate voices some of the men don't get as low as I think they needed to.
I'm also not a big fan of epilogues that jump years and head and wrap up a 7-hour book in 7 minutes it felt rather force and rather rushed.
I wish the author would have spent less time with graphic sex and bodily fluids and more time cultivating this relationship which could have been something special instead of something just okay and not terribly believable.

So Amazing!!!

Love this story and the characters! I love that no one does anything truly stupid. The characters are just open to letting love happen and figuring it out when something is not right. READ THIS STORY!

Swoon

Ok, I absolutely loved this book. The dialog was hilarious and quirky and I love the dive into nuero-divergence! Milo is an absolute breath of fresh air and Gideon and him just fit together in a total swoony way! And I love that this didn’t fit the typical romance stereotype of them hooking up. It felt very real! And obviously, Iggy Toma did amazing as always!!
