Insulting to artists
I bought this mediocre novel because the rest of the series is better. It is either a fairytale, or just stupid.
Spoilers: according to this author a man who never painted before, suffering from a tremor in his hand, buys art supply's and sells all his work within a month. Short time after that, he finds a job teaching art.
It is as improbable as on an impuls start living in a hotel, finding an apartment and buy furniture, without serious saving for years.

Ugly Crying, Laughing, & Hot Sex

Fantastic, this one is worth every penny!
Was afraid this was a waste of money as it is a shorter audiobook than I normally listen to.
I was really wrong there. Action and lust from the first chapter. This one is worth every penny. Couldn't put it down.
The description mentions a content warning. I wanted to specify that it refers to a shooting in a nightclub and an accidental suicide attempt. Both events were handled well by the author. The book discusses the events by bringing up the LGBTQ+ community and the support that exists there. Love conquers all.

Fabulous story and really good performance
This was angsty, emotional and tragic but also very beautiful. I loved it.
I also loved the friends and I'm going to go right on to the next book in this series.
The narrator did a really good job. He had a pleasant enough reading voice and he was age appropriate for all the characters. He expressed the emotions perfectly bringing the story to life. The side characters voices really stood out especially the female voices which were great but the the 2 MCs and some of the other male friends voices were less distinct and sounded pretty much the same.

Great book
I have already read this series but with the better weather and a need to exercise I thought I would try audiobooks. I enjoyed this story just as much and stayed out for way longer than I thought. The story was well read, the narrator had a lovely voice well suited to the story.

A New to Me Author Who Feels Like an Old Friend.
I stumbled on to the Heathens Ink series by accident as I do with many of my favorites. I believe it was a post on Facebook in the audiobook forum, Aural Fixation. Male/male has quickly become my favorite genre in it’s many manifestations. I don’t think I had read a m/m tattoo series that I can recall. The first book, Rescue Me, touched my heart in so many ways, gay male friends I have lost over the years from varied causes. The pain when the Pulse nightclub shootings happened though I did not know any of those men. My sister and her longtime life partner who I love more than my own life. This book brings all these painful, beautiful, broken and hopeful things home to my heart. There was a hate after the last presidential election that set so many events in motion, the Pulse shootings among them. It is these types of books that celebrate love in all it’s many forms that have given me hope in a time when I could shut down in despair. Enough about my politics and feelings as to why these books matter, on to the sexy, hot, inked guys and why I really love them. The men of Heathens Ink are devastatingly hot. They are also as zany as an adventure of Lucy and Ethel with their antics. The sex is amazing, oh, to be a fly on that wall. The character development of these men who are wounded, vulnerable, strong and devoted to one another are the icing on my hea cake. Now a word on the narration by Cooper North, perfection. Yes it is that simple and that good. He gives the men much more depth in his interpretation of who they are and how the love than many, most, narrators would. One of the things about the booming m/m genre in romance listening that I love is getting to “know” the voice actors. There are so many wonderful men at work in this field and I plan to discover them all, one hot sweaty love scene at a time.

😴😴😴😐😴😴. OMG...I had to stop
OK. I don't typically write bad reviews because I simply enjoy books but oh my goodness I cold not dedicate any more of my life to this book. It felt like a lot of talking going nowhere. By hour 2 no smexy time, no real relationship heat, just a lot of "I want to but I can't" by both MCs. Skip book 1. Thankfully I read book 2 first and that was pretty good. Looking for a good alternative try the Out of Uniform series. I just finished book 2. Its good.
The narrator was good. His voice matched the MCs but the story was so flat. I would like to see how he does with better material.

Rescue Me
I LOVE this book. Seriously though the first time I Read this the very first part of the book made me cry. It still gets me no matter how many times I have read and now listened to this book. Thane is so Dreamy, Ex-Marine, Firefighter. Yumm.. And Madden is a Tattoo Artist. Double Yumm. They make the best couple match ever. LOL. Cooper North did a Really Good job with the narration as well. I think the Author did a great job with picking him for this series!

Kind of Flat
I understand the idea of the plot and the ideas spoken but it still felt rushed.
Was rather difficult to root for the couple. It really felt cliche. My eyes rolled through most of it.
Had potential of a great story but it felt more like a bad porn storyline.

Touching
I enjoyed this story, early work, from KM Neuhold. Book One in her tattoo-themed series, Heathens Ink.
Thane and Madden meet at a nightclub where a shooting takes place. Thane rescues Madden and subsequently becomes a lifeline and friend to the troubled tattoo artist.
Madden has a lot to deal with. Not just physically recovering from the gunshot wounds, but also from PTSD and addiction recovery. While it’s lovely having someone to take care of you, sometimes you need to learn to lean on yourself first.
It’s heartbreaking to see all that Madden has to deal with, but also for Thane to realize he can’t fix his problems, no matter how much a loves him.
This was a heartfelt story that really delved into the effects of addiction and mental health on everyone.
Narrator Cooper North did a nice job with this story.

sweet and quick
There was a lot of trauma and emotions to unpack here, but I think it was done very well. Especially with how short the book was. I was completely satisfied with the growth in the story and appreciated the little time jumps that allowed the characters room to do so.
