Summary

A Gotrek novel

When the Bad Moon rises, Gotrek Gurnisson descends into the heart of Skragrott, the Loonking's twisted, fungal empire in pursuit of vengeance.

Listen to it because:

The Slayer hunts the most ancient enemies of his people in the heart of their domain. It may not be the world he was born in, and they may go by the name grots now, but no self-respecting dwarf is ever going to turn down the chance to kill hordes of goblins....

The story:

Hell-bent on ridding himself of the Fyreslayer rune buried in his chest, Gotrek Gurnisson, the greatest slayer to ever live, travels deep into the strange, alchemical realm of Chamon. Using their mysterious aether-science, the Kharadron overlords of Barak-Urbaz offer an end to Gotrek’s quest. But, as the Bad Moon rises and murderous Gloomspite Gitz threaten to destroy the sky-port, Gotrek pits himself against the most ancient enemy of his people - the greenskins. While his aelven travelling companion, Maleneth Witchblade, struggles to keep him alive, Gotrek throws himself headlong into a bloody battle for survival that will take him into the dank, fungal heart of Skragrott’s Asylum.

Written by Darius Hinks. Running time 9 hours 46 minutes. Narrated by Jonathan Keeble.

More Gotrek!!

The more stories about Gotrek the better 😁
This one also takes a look at the cultures of the Kharadron Overlords and the Gloomspite Gitz 👍

A worthy addition to the slayer series.

I've been a fan of the Gotrek novels since first reading about him in a magazine in the 90's. Each book adding more to the character, his long history and the world around him. Gitslayer takes this a step further. Having found himself in the Mortal realms in the previous novel, this book has his searching for a true purpose, and murdering everything in his path as he does so. As such, I found it in keeping with the series as well as being able to move his story along in a satisfactory manner. Maleneth is not Felix, but she does manage to add something different that is enjoyable and refreshing. All in all it, I thoroughly enjoyable tale.

Worth a listen!

Loved the Gitz getting some more time in the loonlight! Felt a bit slow to get started but enjoyed the overall story progression.

A worthy addition to the Gotrek mythos

Gitslayer follows in the now-old tradition of Gotrek stories in being something of a filler novel. It is a story where Gotrek is pitted against a particular foe whose race is largely chosen from a list of races that haven't been the antagonistic focus of a previous book. Nothing happens in terms of a broader story, though there are hints of some greater arc being developed. But, as with previous Gotrek novels that follow this format the tale is still worth telling and reading.

Solid git bashing action

Get this if you like Gortrex, if you like the Khadron and the Gloomspite. Its Jonathan Keeble so its a fantastic narration and he does the voices of the characters brilliantly.

The story is fine, nothing to spectacular, for me the best bits were expanding Gortrex and Malanith's characters and pushing their arcs and the story forward. The world of the Gloomspite Guts is also fantastically written and coupled with some vignettes of the wider mortal relms the books continues to build on what is now one of the the best fantasy settings. However its not spectacular the plot is fairly predictable and the villains, although fun, danger the screen time they deserve.

Hilarious, dark, and grotty!

Ever wondered what it's like to get into the head of a grot, stumpy, or humey?

This is a fungus fueled insight into the age of Sigmar universe, with the occasional tales from the crypt style side story. Soar above the clouds of a smog filled industrial revolution with Gotrek and Co, and wade your way through spore filled Asylum swamps where its dark, and dank, and sticky!

Jonathan Keeble's voice acting and narration is second to none! I loved this from start to finish.

Full confession I have a Gobbo bias

As a newer fan to the Gotrek saga I'm really enjoying his adventures across the mortal realms.

As mentioned above I'm some what of a sucker for Warhammer Greenskins and I personally think that their level of personality and Chaos shines throughout the novel. A good balance has been struck between their inherent silliness and the genuine threat that the Gloomspite Gitz can actually pose to the mortal realms (Some of my favorite parts were in fact the cutaways to random Chaos lords getting absolutley trolled by the Gobbos. Out of the three in this series that I've listened too Skragfang and Co are the best antagnonists so far in the AOS series.

Voice acting is still super with Gotrek's unabashed hatred for his peoples Grobi adverseries coming across clearly

Favourite of the AOS Gotrek's so far
