Within this book you will find Hammerhal, a fantastic new novella from Josh Reynolds: Dark forces stir within the bowers of the mysterious Hexwood. A great warhost of Tzaangor beastkin, creatures devoted to Tzeentch, the Architect of Fate, defile the once verdant lands of Ghyran. All that opposes them are the noble Stormcast Eternals of the Hallowed Knights. Reforged in resplendent sigmarite and wielding the lightning of Azyr, few can stand against these heroes. Also within this book is a host of awesome short stories giving you a flavour of the many warring armies that exist within the worlds of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Story
The War of Souls is over. Takhisis is dead. On Ansalon, heroes and gods have banded together to save the world from destruction. A new peace, of sorts, has taken hold. But half a world away, on the continent of Taladas, the troubles are just beginning. Sorcery, long thought lost, has returned to the world. Disasters wrack the land, nations clash, dark forces stir in the aftermath of the Godless Night. And on the grasslands of the Tamire, an ambitious lord unites the barbarian tribes....
Summary
Since the dark days of the Great Awakening, the scattered remnants of humanity have clung to a bleak existence, surviving howsoever they can, no matter what the cost.
Tamra, a voivode of the Rictus clans, fights one last, desperate battle for the survival of her tribe, the Drak. Now her people face their most relentless enemy ever - the lumbering minions of the Plague God. Where is their lord Nagash, the Undying King, when his people need him most? As the gods and their servants vie for power in the Mortal Realms, Tamra is drawn into a deadly game between life and death, as beings long thought gone start to exert their powers once again.

Not what i was expecting
For a Nagash book, Nagash featured very little in the book and this felt more like a Neferata book. Don't get me wrong, it's enjoyable enough, but i was really expecting an extension of the older Nagash books which this really didnt feel like.

Excellent book
really good story about the bgod of the dead, and those who serve him, willing or not. Also, using some chill nurglite knights as the main antagonists made both side of the story interesting. Whilst you might not be rooting for chaos, (and aren't intended too), their viewpoint is via the sort of madman who you could get on with, if you could get over the smell. Also, for those who know Nagash from the old world, neither being mad nor dead seem to have made him less... Nagashy, and he concludes the story with a move that's definitely reminiscent of Nagash the necromancer, whilst being totally appropriate for Nagash the god. Other points: Solid narration, with distinctive voices for characters and the narrator, making both pleasurable and easy to listen to. Pretty good sense of it being grounded in a specific area, and its call outs to wider AoS law certainly don't hit you in the face with Ghal Maraz (though it does help to know what a sylvaneth physically is beforehand, but certainly won't break the story if you don't know anything but 'tree people')

Good story about the army of Nurgle and the undead
I am new to warhammer and am fascinated by Nagash so decided to give this a read. Having finished it, I learnt a lot about the army of Nurgle a bit about about the undead and Vampires.
I was a bit underwhelmed though with how the story touches on Nagash. It’s just enough to begin to understand him but always cuts off and deprives you of getting any satisfactory understanding of him. Almost like the night king from game of thrones (the series) where so much is built up around him and you get teasers here and there but by the end of it you still don’t understand much about him.

Needs more Arkhan. Interesting antagonist.
Arkhan the Black is the best character in the realm of death. Neferrata was fun too. I wanted more from the story and Nagash, it felt underwhelming for a self titled book to not show him more. There was more road to use with the life and death narrative. Narrator had amazing range and skill.

Very good first time exposure
This is the first Warhammer book I have been exposed to. Oddly enough I decided to give it a try because of my love for the Total War game and love the vampire counts. This was a good story narrated by an excellent narrator. In my opinion the narrator alone is what really made me take the plunge and then ultimately stick with the entire story. I was very entertained and feel this audiobook is well worth the purchase and time investment.

Nothing really surprising
Story plays out how you’d expect it. The narration was good but the voice range for the breadth of characters was limited and I waited to hear the narration of the character speaking to grasp who I was listening to often.
If you want to learn more about Nagash, I think it’s decent for it but I didn’t feel very fulfilled.
