Summary
Jennifer Sylvester made her deal with the devil...and now, they’re engaged!
But all is not well in Green Valley. A chicken choker is on the loose, 61 dead birds most "fowl" need plucking, and no time remains for Jennifer and her devilish fiancé.
Desperate to find a spare moment together, Jenn and Cletus’s attempts to reconnect are thwarted by one seemingly coincidental disaster after another.
It’s not long before Cletus and Jenn see a pattern emerge, and the truth becomes clear. Sabotage!
Will an undercover mission unmask the culprit? Or, are these lovebirds totally plucked?
Engagement and Espionage is the first book in the Solving for Pie: Cletus and Jenn Mysteries series, a full-length cozy mystery, and is a spin-off of Penny Reid's Winston Brothers series. This novel is best listened to after Beard Science, Winston Brothers, book three.

The Winston family saga keeps getting better
What a great twist to the romance of Jennifer and Cletus.
Packed with all the usual characters from the Winston brothers series, this story shows how truly well matched Jen and Cletus are.
The narrators deserve top marks and I heartily recommend this audio book ❤❤❤❤❤

Penny’s World never disappoints!
I have throughly enjoyed every minute of this audiobook. I purposely didn’t buy the book once I knew Joy Nash & Chris Brinkley were narrating and as ever they brought the story to life - they are fantastic narrators. Penny you have such a quick mind and wicked sense of humour; I applaud you. Cletus or Billy...I still can’t decide!

If you’ve already heard the sneak peak...
Skip to 5:40 in Chapter 3 if you’ve already listened to the Sneak Peek which was semi-obnoxiously added on to every single other Winston Brothers book.

Beard Science Extra Epilogue
If you loved Beard Science because of Cletus and Jenn you’ll love E&E too! This is a cozy romantic mystery with a couple who is devoted to each other but still have a few hurdles to overcome. The mystery is a good backdrop for their relationship issues and I enjoyed how they played out and getting behind the various personalities and vulnerabilities of several of these characters. This is basically an extended epilogue in the form of a full novel, there no “secondary romance” or anything like that: just Jenn and Cletus. But the Winston family is back and the interactions and support are lovely and entertaining to read. Love this story like the rest!

Listen, but check your expectations
This book is charming because of the narrators. The plot leaves a lot to be desired ... The couple’s relationship is constrained by things they could easily change. This is massively annoying—not pleasantly suspenseful like the author probably intended.

Yes! I love Jen and Cletus
Don’t mind the book snobs who left bad reviews. If you love the beard series you will love this continuation of Jen and Cletus story. It show cased how life can get in the way of the things you want to do but you can survive as long as you are surrounded by friends and family.
Allow the author to paint the picture, to tell the story. Go along for the ride and don’t be a book snob telling the author how to write the book. So glad I went with my gut and read this book. I absolutely love this series!!

Lack of Engagement and more Espionage
The story was nice, but it was unbelievable about their relationship. What two young people in their 20s didn’t try to find time together at all for months? I understand the dilemma she was having, but again the characters had opportunities in the story and always miss, which made it very frustrating for reading satisfaction such as myself. Even a make out session would have been nice. Overall it was a little dull for me and I didn’t feel any emotion during this read like I did with Reid’s other books. Im still a big fan.

Cletus & Jenn are at it again!
I was delighted to find additional stories about Cletus Winston and his betrothed Jennifer Sylvester! Chris Brinkley and Joy Nash do a delightful job of bringing these characters to life!

Very Fun
Who knew you could laugh at murder? I genuinely enjoyed this, although the narrator, Joy Nash is a tad grating with the southern accent, especially in the beginning when she's screeching, not graet for a road trip read at first.
