Summary

In a world gone dark, she'll protect her daughter at any cost....

For Megan Wolford, life as she knew it came to an end after the world was decimated by an EMP. Now, she does her best to survive and protect her daughter, Caitlin. But when the young girl falls ill with a mysterious virus, Meghan must leave the safety of their home and embark on a dangerous journey to forage for medical supplies.

Meanwhile, former Navy SEAL Wyatt Morris struggles to hold his family together. When Megan crosses into their land, he's suspicious of her motives, despite feeling drawn to her. But he won't turn away a sick child, no matter how deadly the world has become.

Megan and Wyatt must work together to save Caitlin and forge a new life in a broken world. As they grow closer, they slowly discover other survivors they can trust. Strength in numbers could make the difference between life and death - but responsibility for others is a heavy burden.

And in a world driven to the brink, survival may require more sacrifice than they can possibly imagine....

This thrilling post-apocalyptic set contains EMP Lodge books 1-6, a complete series about surviving on the edge when all is lost.

Wow! What a journey! Any peepers, apocalyptic fans must read.

With the exception of the female lead Megan at times being written very self centred and boarder line narssasistic (spelling) this story is amazing! Really amazing job writers well done!

Better than many others I've listened to.

This is one of my favourite genres, I thoroughly enjoyed this box set. Ok so some bits seem familiar from other books but I think that is to be expected similar hardships, searches for food etc. The characters were wonderful, and grew with the series, and some didn't make it to the end which brought me a few tears but made it more realistic in such a world there isn't a happy ending for everyone. The narrator did a great job throughout and I will be checking out other books read by this narrator.

An enthralling listen

A very good boxset that makes you wonder what life would be like during a grid down situation.
Doubt many here in the UK would survive as easily, probably end up back in the stone age!

Mediocre at best

Like Twighlight is to Bram Stoker's Dracula. This is to a survival series. It's a survival series for girls. I battled to get through the series, as I hike and got 6 books for 1 credit, I just pushed through it as it kills time. If you're a survivalist or prepper. This will frustrate you and the girlie emotional stuff never stops. This is a girls book series!

Meh

This book is full of obvious observations and emotions that will frustrate the listener.
Everything is over explained as if the listener was a child or of low intelligence.

After 20 hours of frustration at what could be a fantastic story I've now given up.

Good story and likeable characters, well narrated. Megan at times seemed a little soft but that can be overlooked with the other characters a

Don’t bother

This is probably one of the worst books I’ve listened to. The main plot is poor; Kyle murders someone months into the apocalypse (go figure) and a 7 year old girl is a witness. Kyle poisoned the girl so she doesn’t tell. Mom, Megan, finds a cabin in the woods looking for help to save her daughter. The cabin is inhabited by a former Navy Seal, Wyatt, and his family. Kyle weasels his way into the group to assassinate the 7 year old because she may snitch him out. To who?! Who are they going to call, the police? It’s the apocalypse! In the story Wyatt left a backpack that included a handgun in the woods for the Megan as a just in case. Megan needed the gun to save herself from Kyle, and she made it to the backpack only to find that Mr. Navy Seal left it unloaded… Then Kyle is pointing a gun at Megan and was about to kill her. Wyatt came running out of the woods and tackled Kyle instead of shooting him, like Seals are trained to do. I expected a better story than this. It was clearly written by someone with no military or tactical knowledge, and the author apparently didn’t bother doing any research. Or, Wyatt is the most inept Navy Seal ever trained? I couldn’t listen anymore.

Beyond expectations...

For no reason in particular, I did not have high expectations for the series. I, however, was very quickly drawn into the story. The storyline progressed quite well and the characters were very easy to become acquainted with. Good action, both ups and downs to get you in the feels. The story was very well written and the narration was great! Hated to see the story come to an end, but it came together quite well.

Overall not bad

But to be honest Wyatt must be the worst Navy seal ever. It was almost like he had no real training whatsoever. And Megan’s inner dialogue’s got a little monotonous

To much unneeded story

way to many things that should not have happened. Not realistic at all. I don't want to give away anything but a good book to waste some time.

Apocalypse Romance novel

The romance level to this book was just too much. We have a navy seal that seems nothing like a navy seal. He's too interested in romance to actually defend his friends and family. Our heroine is a "strong woman" that seems to need to be rescued at every turn. She, at every turn, gets her and her daughter hurt or nearly killed because she cant trust groups. Only to be saved by groups. The writer has to write dumb useless characters to create conflict. Use a better story line. It accomplishes the same goal.

Very irrational and over emotional

characters act so irrational it's ridiculous. Then they over emotionallize it into a 10min rant to justify their decision for a spit section scene.

Rolls eye

I don’t know why I keep getting lured in by these box set for one credit. They usually mean the books are lacking in one way or another. This one is no exception. The female lead has major character flaws. One minute she’s hell bent on finding her daughter with or without anyone’s help; the next minute she’s content to having a nice peaceful dinner with strangers. Is her daughter is no longer important? What happened to the frantic mother looking for her child? Don’t even get me started on the incapable Navy Seal male lead. Yes the other reviews of this character is correct. The chemistry between these two is really forced and just awkward. The plot isn’t that great and add in the two leads had character flaws, just made it hard to enjoy.

Emotional mess

The first book is an emotional mess. couldn't finish it. I was rooting for Kyle to kill Meagan so I didn't have to know her every feeling, over and over. Not much different than a romance novel.

Never been more happy for a series to end

I hate giving negative reviews, but this series was a struggle to finish. The main character Megan, is the absolute last person anyone would want to survive the apocalypse with. She made purely emotional based decisions and got people killed. She was also constantly "amazed" by learning new skills. And the things she was amazed by were pretty small. The narrator made her sound like an angsty teen. Her husband was apparently a former Navy Seal, but lacked a lot of survival skills. I don't know how he put up with her. In one chapter the distance to a destination would be a 12hr hike. In the next, they could miraculously do it in 3. So many things were just improbable.

Great series

Couldn’t help but to get caught up in this series. I laughed, I cried, I listened with eager anticipation as to what was going to happen next!
