Summary

[I was reborn too weak to become an adventurer, so I opened an item shop by the dungeon instead!]

Reborn into a fantastical RPG-system-based world, Fresh is offered a second chance at life.

Initially glad to have escaped her old existence, she quickly realizes that this new one might not be much better. Her new body is too frail to follow any grand dreams of adventure, her new mind is too dulled to allow any meticulous planning or thought, and this new, seemingly colorful, kind world is anything but.

Needing to find a way to survive in this horrible place, Fresh bands together with some unusual people as she undergoes an entirely unexpected challenge: running an item shop just outside of the dungeon!

Dungeon Item Shop is a wholesome, dark fantasy adventure series written by renowned and trending author D.M. Rhodes!

This really grew on me

I gave this book a shot because I'm a sucker for this kind of world displacement premise, and while it took a bit to get me on board I ended up really enjoying it.

The main character isn't the brightest crayon in the box especially after being put in a body with very low (int and wis especially) stats. But I ended up not minding too much because while she did dumb things it didn't feel like those actions were only engineered to drive the plot but rather just in character.

The main charm for me is how plot threads slowly form around our protagonist building up a very interesting world.

The narration was very enjoyable too.

Overal, I'd only recommend picking this up if you're okay with a goo-brained leading lady and a slow building story.

Entering and addictive.

Not even half way in and I have picked up the next two books, the occasional joke has me laughing out loud, to the strange looks of everyone around me.
The friendship dynamic is a nice touch feels like a few of my own used to be. It has the usual LitRPG troupe as well so all good.

I wish this book was a computer game!

This book is like playing Skyrim (other RPG available) watching an animé programme, playing DnD or reading a graphic novel all rolled into on. The author clearly has used their knowledge of the aforementioned to create this rich and amusing book.

It has a gripping story line that appeals to the serial side quester (I being one of them) who gets pulled along the main story line without knowing what is going on other than they like finding and making things.

My only resistance to fully loving this is that there is a repetitive note to the "Jubeleeeeeee" making me want to end their whining similar to inadvertently killing Lydia in each and every storyline of Skyrim. However, that repetitive edge perfectly personifies the true nature of any RPG; grind, repeat, grind, level up.

I fully advise anyone who loves all things light-hearted geek to get this audiobook, but also those who have never played or experienced RPG to listen to this. If you want to understand why your friends, family, colleague or child spend their whole time glued into an alternative reality, this book explains it all!

very enjoyable

A great addition to the library. The characters are well formed and individual. The narrator is well suited to the story. I'm off to find the next in the series.

Brace yourself

The protagonist is a gibbering idiot. How she manages to breathe by herself is somewhat of a mystery. I know she is supposed to be of low intelligence, but I found this really difficult to listen to at times. Overall the story is good and the performance and voice acting are great - but that main character!

Interesting idea, annoying main character

Interesting story, mostly interesting characters. but the main character has irritating anime-like behaviour. Not cute, not funny, just annoying

I just couldnt

I wanted to like this book and gave it till half way through before quitting. The narrator is the only good thing about it.

the main characters are just thoroughly unlikable and the pacing is so incredibly slow. There are interesting hooks that then never get expanded on.

in short just don't unless you have a strong constitution for boredom

Great find.

I couldn't put it down. The only complaint I have is that the MC can be too whiny, wimpy and a little dumb at times, but it can be justified as it appears she is still young and immature, if you can overcome this or put yourself in a mindset to enjoy this, it's a very interesting story.
Also I never realized how much I liked tsunderes...
A really cozy story about friendship.

A fun and creative story!

I liked this book alot. Most of all I love the concept, its so creative. The characters are memorable and there are some good humor. The author did and amazing job on the main character. The description of thoughts and spoken words as well as the actions are really enjoyable.
There are 2 complaints I have with the book, but that is all.
1: I do not like the character Jubeli. It feels stale and flat compared to the other characters. I understand that might be some of the point with the character but it's sooo repetitive.
2: Somewhere around the middle of the book it's like the author could not decide where the book should go from chapter to chapter. However this gets fixed relatively fast.

These are my only 2 dislikes with the whole 24h+ book. I would highly recommended the book if you find the thought of running a shop in a fantasy world intriguing. I am definitely getting book2. Especially with how well book 1 ended.
