Summary

Phoebe West has been head-over-heels in love with her brother's best friend for as long as she can remember. Not that he's bothered to notice. Despite several mortifying attempts at seduction and a decade's worth of unrequited pining, nothing Phoebe does seems to make any impact on the man she's obsessed over since her bra-stuffing days. She knows that it's time to let him go, though just the thought is nearly enough to shatter her.

Nathaniel "Nate" Knox has only ever seen Phoebe as one thing: forbidden. There's a darkness in Nate, the kind you can't avoid after years working in Special Forces and private security. He's no good for anyone, especially not someone as sweet as his best friend's little sister. He knows that he can't have her, even if she makes him feel things he barely recognizes.

Contains mature themes.

Loved it

I really enjoyed this book, so much I had to listen to the whole thing from start to finish with a narrator who was really easy to listen to. I will now have to get the next book Asap.

1 million words per second!!! Too much to stand...

The unrequited love... Years loving her brothers best friend...
She is a little bit too much verbose for my liking. I got tired.
It takes too long to get to speed but from the middle on, some action kicks in and it gets better...

Not my favorite...

Ok, here's the thing... I felt that the performance made Phoebe sound like a 16 year old rather than a 24 year old. Some of the written language didn't help either. Words like "holy frack" and the pet name of "little bird" and other references REALLY made Phoebe sound like a whack job. Reading a sample of the book, I had a different tone in my head, so this performance didn't live up to it for me. She could have sounded more sultry and playful over whiny and pathetic. Frankly, I'm not sure how any man could tolerate that tone and voice. It just could have been better. 😥

COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT!!!!!

The story could have been better if I didn't have to wait for nine hours for him to get the girl. Not on I will listen to again. Try it if the love making is not important.

Disappointing

Overall the storyline was pretty good but The Narrator sounded like a 10yr old and the character, although she was supposed to be a spoiled brat, never stopped sounding like a bratty 15 year old.

Juvenile love story

Very boring.
I don’t read live stories
Only several chapters led to the criminal part of the story and was very predictive.
Worst James Patterson book so far

DNF, out by Chapter 2

I cannot stand lame heroines like this. This starts off like a big waste of time and can't be bothered.

Lighthearted and fun

Phoebe has been in love with Nate forever. Forbidden love story since he is her brother’s friend. It’s a fun read with very likable characters

I love this author.

I’m usually into books that pack a little more heat. Cross the line is the second in a series that can be a stand alone or read in the series. The author is funny. Her female characters are dorky and dramatically humorous.

Mobsters don’t go away that easily

I liked this book and how it connected to the previous one but we all know that real life does not happen this way. Although The main characters was corky she was also naïve to all that goes on around her but I guess that’s what made her the character she portrayed.
