Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Penelope Ward comes a new stand-alone novel.

The day I showed up to Dax Moody’s sprawling home, I had no idea what was coming. As a traveling massage therapist, I was used to entering the houses of strangers. But this assignment was different from any before it. From the outside, I’d correctly assumed the owner was rich. What I didn’t realize was that he would be younger than I’d imagined, single, stunningly gorgeous, and mysterious.

Despite the fact that Dax had booked a massage, it never actually happened, since our first appointment was unexpectedly cut short by a comedy of errors. Certain I’d never see him again after that day, I’d done nothing but think about the captivating man. To my surprise, he called a second time. That appointment, we talked a lot, developing a stronger connection. But once again, there was no actual massage. The man I now affectionately called “Moody” kept calling me to come back. It took three times before I finally gave him the massage he’d ordered. Let’s just say it was challenging to keep things professional. I was extremely attracted to Dax, and by that time, I was falling hard. Eventually, I’d find out why he’d been so aloof, the reason why he and I could never be together.

Our story was supposed to end there, but it didn’t. Instead, I was left perpetually longing for a forbidden man.

Boring

I enjoy slow burn romances but this one was really slow burn. They want it each other something happens they feel guilty, and on and on it goes. I only got upto chapter 12.

As usual Andi Arndt and Sebyo were great but unfortunately even they couldn't save this book for me.

Moody

Penelope Ward is one of my favourite authors and with Moody she's done it again. Pulled an all nighter with this novel. Loved it, especially Rafe!

AN EMOTIONAL HEART Vs HEAD SLO-O-O-O-O-OW-BURN

For Dax and Wren this was a journey filled with difficult decisions that tore at their emotions and heartstrings.. and thank you Ms Ward for second chances. However, for me, their story of chemistry vs duty, desire vs denial, tender vs torment and elemental vs forbidden was a very touching love story filled with a full kaleidoscope of feels. Written by a strong author who is always an auto buy one click instant purchase for me. And, who better to bring this slow-burn to life with all its pain and conflicted passion than two of Audible’s greats.. Sebastian and Andi who, for eight emotionally addictive hours, brought the difficult conversations, the sexual tension, the heartbreak, the highs, the lows and finally the sweet happy ever after ending to life.

Worth a credit? Yes I enjoyed it.. but buy it only if you like a self-imposed forbidden very very very slow-burn because, with this ‘relationship’ centered love story, it’s about the growth of a couple’s feelings towards each other, sacrifice and a battle of head vs heart. And also commitment vs love which, over time, has many ranges and changes.. and challenges.. and holds a wealth of deep-felt emotions.

Ugh…

I am half way… who talks like that to one another? It’s sound more like a fiction… how bad do people stink that they smell them in the bed? Seriously who talks like that again. Seems like author having a hard time writing. Not the best, sounds fake and just not realistic at all. And why every time guy is rich and emotionally not available no imagination…

Loved this emotional rollercoaster!

I had no idea what this book was about when I got it. I just knew that I loved all of the other books by Penelope Ward. And the bonus was having it narrated by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York! The love the main characters had for each other from the start kept me listening while they both had to deal with things in their own way. And Rafe was so awesome! I highly recommend this book!

Okay

I liked this alright. I don't think it's as good as the rest of her books 🤷‍♀️ It just seemed to be lacking, storyline wise, things either moved too fast, skipped some relationship developments and used weak plot devices. It had some hot moments and was still a good listen, but not the usual 4 or 5 star imo 😕

Close But No Cigar

I kept thinking something would change and the story would get exciting but it never did. The hero never did grow a set of balls and stand up to the rest of the world in defense of the heroin. It was pretty far fetched that everyone's life seed to be controlled by a 14-yr-old. The entire book was a real dud. Don't waste your time or money.

If "make it make sense" had a pen name...it'd be..

Penelope is famous for taking what some may consider a crazy situation and making it make sense! Dax Moody and Wren were amazing! The secondary characters were awesome too. You begin cheering for all of them from the start.

This book was so relevant and realistic. I also love how the story goes through years without feeling it or skipping a beat – it’s not always insta-love but it is insta-attraction from the beginning.

I loved this book. Just another one to add to my read-and-read-it-again list.

Didn’t Know What to Expect, Pleasantly Surprised!

Great story with great Narrators. This story was well written and had me from the start to the finish. Loss, family, love and life's obstacles. It’s amazing how two individuals can overcome so many things and find a way to be together. It was wonderful to escape with these interesting characters. I truly enjoyed it.
