About this listen
I would not say things are going well, exactly. I live in a burnt-out car under a bridge, surrounded by rubbish. When Ruadan shows up to bring me back to the Institute, I leap at the chance.
That is, until he throws me into the dungeons. I’m on the naughty list, and the mentor who once trained me is cold as ice. Now, I must pass every single trial or the Institute’s executioners will rip me to pieces. Good thing I can handle it. I was the queen of the gladiator ring, and I do not go down easily.
This will be part of a four-audiobook series to be continued.

4.5 stars enjoyable listen
I enjoyed listening to this, more than the first book in the series, and look forward to the next book. I like the main characters, there’s a good balance of plot, action and chemistry between the two main characters. Parts of the series story were revealed which has hooked me in and I want to know more. There were some niggles, like monologuing villains, but not enough for me to take a star off. If you like this, try the Dark Fae FBI series by the same author (but I’m not a big fan of the author’s other series).
The narrator was a bit distracting because she said some things in such a strange way - I’m guessing British isn’t her natural accent. I’m British myself so it’s probably far more obvious to me. Most of her accent was spot on though.

Intense and exciting.
The narration is really good, the storyline in this series is amazing. I really love the main characters they both are very unique and interesting, the bad guys in this make you want to punch them. As always, C.N Crawford wrote something perfect that pulled me in from the very beginning and kept me awake til all hours. This is definitely a series worth getting, I would say it's one of those that will be re-read many times. It's that good.
