Summary
Keir
The governor’s daughter has gotten herself into a mess.
If I protect her, her father will owe me, bigtime.
But the best way to keep her safe is to marry her.
Claim her as one of our own.
The catch? She’s got a boyfriend she’s not ready to part with.
Good thing an unwilling bride isn’t an issue for a guy like me.
Rowan
How is it that years of toeing the line could unravel so damn quickly?
I’ve done my best to make my parents happy in every way.
But when a six-foot tatted Irish gangster showed up at our house, my entire life began to crumble.
Now, I’ve woken with a ring tattooed on my finger, and I’m starting to worry there’s no going back.
*Corrupted Union is the second book in The Byrne Brothers series. Each book in the series features a different couple and can be listened to as a standalone with a happily ever after, but for maximum enjoyment, follow the recommended listening order. A dark romance with adult themes, Corrupted Union may not be suitable for sensitive audiences. For a more detailed content warning, you can visit the books tab on my website.
A Note from the Author: Keir is my Tommy Shelby, and I am so utterly in love with him. A savage ruthlessness hides beneath his calm exterior, which is shattered when Rowan comes crashing into his world. They may not see it at first, but these two are perfect for one another!
For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!

A fantastic performance from the narrators
A fantastic Irish mafia romance and the second book in the Byrne Brothers series centred around a marriage of convenience……although does it still count as convenience if the bride is drugged into saying I do? Their initial meeting might have been a bit unconventional and Keir and Rowan are complete opposites from different worlds with Keir the older Irish mob boss and Rowan who has devoted her life to being the perfect politicians daughter but Keir is the only person to ever really look at her and see the pain she carries daily. With a gripping storyline involving human trafficking and familial treachery Corrupted Union was a fantastic addition to what is quickly becoming my favourite series from Jill Ramsower.
As I’ve come to expect, Gregory Salinas gave his usual sterling performance as the broody Keir Byrne while Lidia Dornet, a narrator I haven’t listened to before, did a fantastic turn imbuing all the emotions into Rowan. The one thing that did make me cringe in this audiobook was when they tried to do an Irish accent. It was just a bit too what Hollywood thinks the Irish sound like - all shamrocks and leprechauns - and jarred an otherwise excellent performance

Love those Byrne Brothers!
Thank you Jill Ramsower for keeping me entertained for hours! She is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors, and every time delivers the goods. This book features Keir, whom we met in Silent Vows. Stealthy, quiet, only speaks when important, he is always focused. When he meets Rowan, the governor's daughter, she begins the scrambling of the brain. He can't think of anyone else, and his protective side is immediately engaged. Their meet cute is unusual, and from the very first sight of Keir, Rowan was taken. Not scared or intimidated, she feels the same attraction. Little do they know just how involved they will become. Ramsower takes us on a journey of deceit and evil. She slips in current issues that are prevalent and makes you wonder what really does go on in the house of your friends. Rowan proves how independent and brave she is, sticking to her guns and going after what she believes in. Keir is the ultimate protector, and his presence is enough to give that feeling of being safe. Another fantastic listen, full of twists and turns and spice, grab it now!
Gregory Salinas and Lidia Dornet are our storytellers and they do a fantastic job! I loved both of them, and they dove right in, giving the characters their spot on personalities and keeping the suspense and thrills high. I loved their performance.

Amazing
This is my first book from Jill Ramsower and I really enjoyed it . The chemistry between Keir & Rowan was there from the start and when she needed someone to help her he was her first choice . Greg narrated perfectly as usual and Lidia is new to me and she did an awesome job .

No heroes
I don’t think I can continue the book. What kind of people know there is a naked woman, chained to the bathroom, crying and scared and leave and go on dates and tell no one? I usually never let the facts get in the way of a great story… But I can’t let go of this detail. Also, I need a strong Male character…Keir is not.

Mafia Romance-Amazing
Rowan and Keir is a mafia romance that is soooooooo good. I love this story. There are some uncomfortable parts, secrets, and true love plus lust. I hated needing to sleep. I wanted to listen to this story non stop. The narrators are very good and kept me immersed and wondering what happened next. Jill Ramsower-you are a wonderful author and this was as good as Silent Vows. Thank you for creating men who aren’t afraid to show their vulnerable side and how much they love their women and their family. Can’t wait to see what’s next in the Byrn family drama.

Mafia Romance
Second book in atheist Byrne Brothers
Rowan finds her self in trouble and has to turn to the one guy she can’t stand Keir.
To keep her safe she is forced into marriage.
Although they try not to like one another, they are hot for eachother. The chemistry is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
Very good read.
I was given this audio arc for my honest review.

Love this books so much
I need a Keir! The devotion he has to Rowan from the very beginning made me fall for him instantly. I love his devotion to his family as well. He is the tough quiet guy that I fall for so much.
Rowan has her issues that she is trying to deal with and the way that Keir supports her through it all with the love and the strength that she needs is amazing.
I listened to the audiobook for this one and it was amazing. The narrator is it an awesome job bringing play characters to life. They definitely brought you into the book and into the world that Jill had put in page.
It was dual narration which is my favorite when the book is written with POVs. I definitely recommend this book to anyone and the audiobook as well it was incredibly done. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I am going to have to back to book one.
Honest ARC review.

Excellent Listen!!
I have quickly become a fan of Jill Ramsower! Her books are excellent reads/listens! This storyline was riveting and the characters were complicated. I loved the suspense and couldn't guess how it would all work out. I will be going back to pick up book one and then continuing the series. I'm invested. We get a glimpse into the next book. Torin and Stormy's story can't get here fast enough!
Gregory Salinas is a favorite narrator of mine. He and Lidia Dornet gave us excellent performances. This audiobook rolled like a movie in my head.

Sickly sweet
I am in the middle of a home renovation so I’ve been using audible a lot recently. When this came out I used a credit. Spoilers: when I buy a mafia book I expect mafia men. Strong, commanding, awesome sex. This is not it. Spoilers: I thought Rowan was schizophrenic for half the book. What a weird thing to have her having conversations aloud with her dead twin and not letting anyone know for half the book. Then she finds a woman chained to a toilet and she leaves her. Yes, leaves her to go find Kiern and have sex (1 of only 2 sex scenes in the book). Then she goes back to the house to give a note to the girl and leaves her again. Then goes on a date in which she is drugged and marries kiern and goes on a honeymoon for a week. Then stays at her dads for a couple days and no one ever goes to rescue the girl until the end, when the police are told by Kiern and the police go. Kiern is the least interesting and most sweet and ridiculous 2nd in command mafia man I’ve ever read. It also surprised me about a character that was brought in named Damien and Kiern is afraid of him. Yep, second in command is afraid of another mafia guy. I cannot recommend this book. I also don’t think I’ll read this author again.

Excellent story!
Great story line. Rowan discovered a terrible crime at her boyfriends house. She asks Kier for help. He is reluctant but he does help Rowan and learns of her trauma. Nice romance and a happily ever after.
