Summary
You'd think that life would finally be dealing Mack Smith a kind hand. Living in London and with the opening of the new and improved city version of Clava Books mere days away, things appear to be settling down.
Other than the terrible nightmares about dragons, that is. Or the fact that she's being constantly tailed by a string of mages, shifters, and faeries, all of whom are constantly demanding her attention. And that's without even bringing the temptation of Corrigan, Lord Alpha of the Brethren, into the equation. Then, when a local dryad asks her for some help, things really start to fire up. There are some long, hot summer days ahead.…

I really enjoyed this book
I had to increase the speed by a tiny bit but other than that I enjoyed the narration. In fact the whole book was fast paced and a good listen.
Possible mini spoilers: -
I like Mac even though I don't think she is a good leader. She definitely has compassion and the potential for being one but she needs a lot of experience and temperament management and guidance (especially from Corrigan). Since she hurt Corrigan terribly in the end, she clearly has her work cut out. The end was brutal, She was cornered and it felt like she was being kicked while she was down. I wish she had put her foot down and at least discussed the matters with Corrigan before accepting anything but she clearly wasn't in the right space of mind and the revelation in the end was even worse (for her).
I wish there was a Corrigan POV as well. It would only enrich the story but it was still enjoyable.

Ouch, that ending hurt
Not sure if someone is cutting onions near me...nope it's probably hayfever because that ending did not just gut punch me and rip my heart a little for Mac. NOPE defo hayfever.
Besides the hayfever... the book is a page turner, and had me feeling what she felt at times... maybe not the sudden rage or impatience her blood fire gives her. But some of the annoyance and frustration and most definitely hayfever induced tears
Steam factor has increased, and we have an ok smut moment.
Mostly action, magic, sass, and survival
