Summary

If you saw his face, you’d have a death wish, too.

My life sucks. More accurately, I suck- blood.

I woke up on a cold slab in a morgue two weeks ago, with no memories and a new drinking habit that seriously cramps my ability to make friends.

Now, I’m hunting for answers in Sin City about my past and who I was, but someone else is hunting me.

When Death himself comes to collect me, I find myself facing the most magnificent, terrifying being imaginable. Who knew the Grim Reaper wore a tailored suit and ran the most exclusive hotel on the Vegas strip?

He wants to hold me prisoner? Fine, I will rattle the cage and make his life a living hell until I get my freedom.

And I absolutely cannot, under any circumstances, let him know his hand is wrapped around my soul.

Bitten by Death is book one of three in a slow burn, action-packed, steamy romance featuring a cheeky, tough heroine and a dark hero.

Start listening now if you like irreverent, chain-yanking vampires and a hot-as-hell version of Death!

The narrator's did an amazing job too.

A new take on Vampires

I wasn’t sure about listening to this but I love Logan’s narrating so I went with it. I’m so glad I did as it was so good a new take on Vamps and Gods and Vivian is so funny the way she winds Grim up is brilliant. I can’t wait for book 2 and see how they eventually get on working together .

Action, suspense and mystery

This is a great introduction to the series and I cannot wait to listen to more. Grim is death, and he is very powerful and takes his duties very seriously. His routine gets quite the interruptions when he meets the newly turn vampire, Vivian. Vivian lost all her memories and is trying to figure out what happened to her when she runs into death himself. The chemistry these two have is off the charts and I love the banter between them. A few twists and turns, excellently written and the narrative is spot on.

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

Rating: 5 of 5
Story: I seriously loved this story right from the very beginning. I'm going to be honest, I almost passed on it due to the cover. I didn't think it would be a book I'd enjoy very much. I'm happy to say that I was very wrong. It's a very big lesson in "don't judge a book by its cover. I've learned it well. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series.
Characters: One of our main characters is Vivian. She wakes up in a morgue with no memory of her life or how she died. She only knew that she woke up a vampire. Our other main character is Grimm. He has discovered that there are vampires in the world. Something that hasn't happened in a long time. They cannot exist. He decides to go and destroy the one he knows of. Vivian.
Critiques: I'm not a fan of the cover.
Narration: Great narration. I give it a full 5 stars.
Final Thoughts: I really am glad that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. I really loved both of the characters. I also loved how full of comedy the book had. There were so many quirky passages that I enjoyed very much that make it easy for me to say that I recommend this fully.

Paranormal Romance

Bitten By Death by Holly Roberds is a slow burn paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Logan McAllister and Vivienne Ferrari. This is the first book in the Vegas Immortals: Death and the Last Vampire series.

This is the first book of Holly's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the chemistry between Death and Vivian.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Kissed by Death to be released on November 11, 2021 so I can get more of their story.

Logan and Vivienne did a great job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances or romantic suspense.

Loved listening to the book as much as I did reading it

I have already read this book and absolutely loved it. So to be able to listen to it was too tempting to ignore. Unlike some other books I have listened to, this actually used a man and woman doing the narration. I have tried unsuccessfully to listen to books with the male narrator doing the female voices and if I’m honest 90% of the time it hasn’t worked. I loved that they both put emotion into the book and didn’t just read it in almost monotone voices. As I already knew the plot the audiobook held no surprises but if you haven’t read it and the audiobook is your first introduction to Grim, Vivian and their will they won’t they connection let alone the fact she shouldn’t exist and holy crap wait till you find out out who he is! then I can honestly promise that you won’t be disappointed. Vivian is beyond sarcastic and takes huge enjoyment from winding Grim up, while he doesn’t know what to do with her most of the time. I spent most of the time laughing out loud. This is a slow burn story that I really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to listening to book 2.

My Thoughts on Bitten by Death

This was a very entertaining mix of paranormal romance, suspense, mythology, and comedy. I liked pretty much all the “good” characters in this story. Although to be honest I thought there was good character development all the way around, even for the bad ones. But the main characters Death/Grim and Vivian had me laughing throughout the story over their banter. Vivian especially between what she thought and what she actually let come out of her mouth had me cracking up. The supporting characters like Timothy and Miranda were great too. The only thing I can say I was slightly disappointed by was the “steam” level. This book isn’t exactly what I’d consider to be steamy. I understand it’s intended to be a slow burn, but I was a bit surprised at the “relationship development” between Vivian and Grim and how far it didn’t go. The narration however was fantastic. I felt Vivienne Ferrari was so well suited for this character. She pulled off the comedic aspect perfectly. Logan McAllister was just perfect as Grim. He was gruff and growly and also hilarious. While I may have had one minor thing that left me wanting more, I ultimately found myself really enjoying this story and I wouldn’t hesitate to listen to book two when it comes out.

Lots of humour

I enjoyed this storyline quite a lot. It’s written with a lot of humour and the main character has a brilliant level of sass. Fantastic performance from both Vivienne and Logan.

Bitten by Death
Vegas Immortals: Death and the Last Vampire, Book 1
By: Holly Roberds
Narrated by: Logan McAllister, Vivienne Ferrari

Holly Roberds is a “new to me” author, and I did not know what to expect, but she completely blew me away with her fascinating and imaginative take on vampires and the supernatural. I enjoyed her writing style and the characters and storylines she created, they are original and interesting, so much so once I started the book I did not want to put it down, the story captivated my attention and held it hostage for the entire book. I adored the lead characters, Vivien and Grim, there are some great secondary characters too, Grim’s sidekick Timothy and Miranda. Vivien wakes up in the morgue, with no memories of how she got there or who she was, she did know she was no longer human, that somehow she became a vampire. She ventures out with a mission to find out who she is and who did this to her. Vivien easily became one of my favorite characters, she was badass and I loved what came out her mouth, the witty dialogue was endless. When she comes across death himself she does not cower, she stands up for her convictions and is determined to see her mission thru. Grim, sees souls to their destination, he sort of conducts the exit interviews for a higher power, another of his missions on earth is to maintain balance and vampires have no place on earth, but someone is bringing them back to existence and he needs to find who the maker is and destroy him and all the others he made including Vivien. The plan is to use her as bait, but her defiance complicates matters, as does her goodness within, he soon sees there is something special about her, the master vampire already knows this and is sending his minions to capture her and bring her back to him. This paranormal romance novel is entertaining and enjoyable, the story is brilliantly plotted with plenty of drama, some great wit and humor, a touch of angst, some action, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, some emotional and heartfelt moments and a slow burn romance. The world building is phenomenal and this first book lays down the foundation for the rest of the series. Holly Roberds, thank you for this amazing story, I am looking forward to what comes next for these great characters in the fabulous paranormal world you created, I hope there are plans to bring it to audio too.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Logan McAllister and Vivienne Ferrari are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They have a complete understanding of the characters they portray, giving each a voice that fits that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I picture the character to sound. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters’ emotions and projects them into their performance. They set the perfect tone for the story, handle the witty dialogue with ease and land the humor effortlessly, never missing a beat. These two mega talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the exceptional listen.

Good story!

This is an interesting story. It doesn't follow the typical vampire storyline. I really like Grimm aa a character. The narrators do a great job telling the story. I'm looking forward to more books from Roberds.

Bravo! I loved it!

Viv has changed, a lot. Seems she’s a bit, well, undead. She has no memory, no idea who she is, make that who she was, she doesn’t even know her name. She does have a huge craving for blood. Hmmmm odd. Then she meets Grimm, as in Reaper and things get a whole lot stranger. Bitten by Death is a well written, witty as all get out, hysterically, laugh out loud funny story with unbelievably good character development and standout narration. I love Viv, I want a Grimm of my own and those Reapers, I want those too! Have I confused you? Just listen to this delightful story and you’ll want them too!

Good start to a series

I enjoyed the start so much and was grateful this didn’t end with such an intense cliffhanger and yet it’s open for so much more. It was so much fun and I am so happy to have gotten to listen to this story by a new to me author. It was a very different type of vampire story and I loved it so much! The narrator made the story even better by bringing these characters to life.
