Summary
Vaughn Spencer.
They call him an angry god.
To me, he is nothing but a heartless prince.
His parents rule this town, its police, every citizen and boutique on Main Street.
All I own is a nice, juicy grudge against him for that time he almost killed me.
Between hooking up with a different girl every weekend, breaking hearts, noses, and rules, Vaughn also finds the time to bully little ol' me.
I fight back, tooth and nail, never expecting him to chase me across the ocean after we graduate high school.
But here he is, living with me in a dark, looming castle on the outskirts of London.
A fellow intern. A prodigal sculptor. A bloody genius.
They say this place is haunted, and it is.
Carlisle Castle hides two of our most awful secrets.
Vaughn thinks he can kill the ghosts of his past, but what he doesn’t know? It’s my heart he’s slaying.

This story was freakin fantastic...
...in a dark, sadistic and utterly disturbing way!
Boy, can LJ Shen write. Her stories are always entertaining but her words make her stories utterly breathtaking. Nothing seems to phase her, be it a difficult or daunting storyline or just A-holes, as is the case with the Spencer men.
It seems a while now since we endured the pleasures that Vicious bestowed upon us but he certainly created a new monster in his son, Vaughn. Right from the outset, Vaughn is cold, calculating and downright malicious towards his nemesis, Lenora Astalis.
Despite growing up together and being jointly moulded towards their destinies, they are worlds apart when it comes towards relationships. As children, Vaughn bullied Lenora, as adolescents, Lenora turned the table and started biting back. By the time they are at college together the gloves are off and what was once idle resentment towards each other explodes into something far more sinister.
The magic to this story is the secret that is revealed as you read on. Vaughn is has become the man he has for a reason and, for once, that reason is not his father. Despite her love/hate relationship with the idea of Vaughn, Lenora starts to unpeel his many, damaged layers and eventually manages to find the human being that she longed for beneath his abusive demeanour.
The story was dark but it was also sublime. Both characters were 100% endearing despite their cold and calculated ways. The essence of the story was heartbreaking but also rewarding. When you combine these many fascets you have a story that will reward you for your perseverance in a way that no other could.
Via Audible, this story was brought to life in such a way that made the story even more amazing. The narrators did a fantastic job and must be commended for the part they played in making what is a truly exceptional book.

Couldn’t finish
Usually I love LJShen. I’ve loved all but one of books previously. I loved Vicious. I love “difficult” alpha men. However I just couldn’t get with this at all.
The female narration was dreadful. Sounded Australian. The English references in the book were off the mark alot of the time. Hated the setting, hated the premise, it was far too dark and frankly all a bit weird. Vaughan was down right nasty, Lenny was annoying, and overall just not for me. Sorry.

Great book, but sticklers for pronunciation beware
I loved this story - it ticked all of my boxes. However, I had real issues listening to the female narrator, when in ‘English mode’. Most of the time, she sounded vaguely Australian. The pronunciation of some words really grated on me, unfortunately: ‘arsh’ rather than ‘ash’ and (more importantly) ‘von’ rather than ‘vawn’ (Vaughan) are just two of a number of bug-bears. There are a lot of voice artists out there who need to use English accents - some are rather good at it, but a lot are not. As an English person trying to immerse myself in a truly wonderful audiobook, it detracts from my enjoyment when a word is pronounced incorrectly - it takes something away from the fantasy of my listening to the character speaking directly talking to me.

Equally good as hard to hear at times..
Lots and lots of triggers.. think that should be highlighted first and made very clear in the description.
The character development was brilliant. English accent was total crap!
Would still recommend.

Absolutely amazing book
Recommended! Jacob Morgan and Kylie Stewart did a phenomenal job. Wasn't a fan of Vicious and Emilia in the past but as parents they were great. Very introspective read.

Excellent Storyline
I loved the story line but struggle with the females pronunciation. At times it sounded as though it could have been a robot.

WOW!
The narration was spot on and the story was unput down able. I have read it several times and will read it several times more. Just as good as VICIOUS.

This book is everything!
I have loved everything that I have read/listened to of L J Shen and Angry God is no exception, I can’t recommend this book enough.
The narrators bring these characters to life.
My heart was ripped out then slowly put back together with the perfect ending to a great series.

A swing and a miss...
I love this author. She is a talented story teller and I'm a big fan of her previous series. I was looking forward to this book and grabbed it as soon as it debuted on audible. It starts out fine....then supposedly turns dark....but it's so not realistic and honestly, just a total turn off. I felt like the story focused more on shock value than creating a shocking story. I figured out the "secret" in 1/2 a second. There were parts I did enjoy and although the previous narrators came back to reprise their roles from earlier books, the one character suddenly had a pronounced Southern accent which wasn't present in the original series. I just feel let down. I will continue to read this author, but I've been seeing all these "this book is beautiful and tragic" reviews that made me so excited. I was dumbfounded while reading it. I felt like I had to be honest.

Difficult listen, not in my comfort zone
LJ Shen is one of my favorite go to authors. I listened to this. Forced myself really, just to see where it would go. This story is one that is not easy to listen to. In the beginning there is a secret, and yes, the secret is exactly what you are afraid it is. Both H/h have deep seated issues (to say the least). If you can handle the perverse dance that leads to their "happily ever after", the story is developed and intricately flushed out. However, I find it hard to believe that every person in this story is a sociopath, but that is the impression I am left with. I will continue to listen or read Ms. Shen. This was the first time I found myself uncomfortable with one of her stories.

Vaughn Spencer
Wow! I never know what to expect from LJ Shen’a books other than greatness. I always find myself trying to figure out what is going to happen before it gets to the point of it happening. I’m never disappointed. I love Vaughn Spenser and all his anger. The cast of narrators are awesome. I’m not sure how many more Fire this series but I’m ready for them and for the re-read starting with Vicious

Such an amazing book and narration!
To say that this was a great book is a gross understatement. It was so beyond great that no word has yet been created to describe its greatness. It has absolutely ALL the feels and I felt them all. We also get Vaughn’s parents’- Vicious’ and Emilia’s POV, which was everything for us to fully understand Vaughn and how in the midst of darkness he was still good. And Vaughn. Oh sweetness. I am getting teary eyed again just thinking about him and Lenora. What an incredible journey they had. The narration for this book was sheer perfection. Oh how I missed Christian Rummel as Vicious!!! Jacob Morgan is incredible too- the emotion he brought to life. Savannah Peachwood and Kylie Stewart were also incredible. I loved everything! Just everything! LJ Shen is a goddess. Truly.

Words cannot express how in love I am with this book!!!
Words cannot express how in love I am with this book. I was a fan of all her sinners of saints and now all saints high collection, but the this one just blew me away. Each one made be believe that it was my favorite, but this one stood out far from the rest. I completed it within 3 days, having a hard time putting it down. The detail, the lyrical words of two broken souls meant to be together, how the story came in full circle was just so exquisite.
My favorite detail about this book, was how much of a role Vicious and Emilia had. Like father like son. I really am going to have one hell of a book hang over after this one. I don’t think she’ll be able to top this one, but I said that before. I hope the series does not end just yet!

The best !!
I love all of L.J Shen's work. Vaughn's and Lenora story was everything I had hoped for and more. Jacob Morgan, Kylie Stewart, Savanna Peachwood and Christian Rummel all did a beautiful job. I pray there are more books in this series!!

Don't like it
I don't like this book. Nothing to like about it and frankly this series has been disappointing. I didn't think it fair to out the narrators in the same boat as the story who are all amazing. The parts that I actually listened to, they were good. But I just don't care and its the same drag storyline as the other two books. No thank you.

Ugh.
I listened for 5 hours. Not straight. I would turn it off every time my eyes rolled. I’m all for writers making something different. This is a repulsive story and not worth finishing. Narration was worth 5 stars. It’s not their fault the story sucks.
