Summary

One magical winter's night in Venice, Didi fell in love. But it ended - and he left without even saying goodbye. Now, 13 years on, Shay Mason is back.

Of course the old spark is still there, but that's as far as it goes. Didi won't let the past unsettle her present: as manager of one of the most stunning hotels in the Cotswolds, she's happy at last and soon to be married. Anyway, Shay isn't staying. He's made a promise to his wayward father, that's all. He's going to keep it. And then he'll be gone.

But Shay's return stirs up long-forgotten emotions in idyllic Elliscombe, and the scandal that led him to leave raises its head once again. More than one person isn't telling the whole truth. The time has come for buried secrets to come to light. And it seems that this was someone's intention all along....

From the beloved and best-selling author of Maybe This Time and Three Amazing Things About You comes a fabulous new novel about love, friendship and finding the way to your best life.

Did not work for me

I usually am a big fan of Jill Mansell. “To the moon and back” is one of my all times favorites. This one, however, was not for me. I was incredibly irked by this bunch of 30 years old behaving like teenagers. Three days into a relationship and they are head over heels in love. Three days. This is not being romantic, this is being naïf.

Uplifting

You just can't go wrong with Jill Mansell books, there is always such warmth in her writing. Easy reading that never lingers on the difficult parts of life but instead lifts her readers spirits.

Disappointing

I’ve read a few Jill Mansell’s books over the years and although the storylines are always predictable I’ve enjoyed her previous books as they’re easy reading and happy endings.

However this book was disappointing. It felt, well lazy. I couldn’t link with any of the characters as there was very little in the way of character development.

I knew very little of the main character Dee Dee so I didn’t care if it was her or the star who got the man in the end.

There was no chemistry of excitement in the budding relationship. All a bit dull and basic.

Predictable but also upsetting

I don’t mind my romantic story being a little predictable, but I DO MIND if the guy is too easily tempted by another woman and doesn’t seem to have the strong will to fight for his true love.
Shay was great in some ways but has so little character that women pick him up and put him down which ever way they like.

First Timer

This is the first book I have listened to be Jill Mansell as I usually for a thriller but I absolutely loved it. I now can’t wait to download another.
The only thing with a great book is I listen too fast then am disappointed when it’s over 😩

Likeable characters and a heart warming story. Left me with a smile when I'd finished.
