Summary

Major Jake Thomas is on a roll. With the help of the Artificial Life: Intelligent Computing Environments, or ALICE, systems, he has successfully faced off with the hostile NeHaw three times. With continued support from his inner circle of female recruits, all handpicked by the ALICEs to further their own agenda, he continues to try to help Earth return to glory.

As Jake works to assemble a space fleet from captured and constructed vessels to address the expanding NeHaw aggression, the terrestrial challenges at home continue to pile up. With troubles in California, Maine, and Washington State to plague Jake and his team, the threat of a two-front war looms ahead.

Not a bad sequel

What did you like best about this story?

The baddies getting a gook kicking

Have you listened to any of David Drummond’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Listened top book 1 of the sequel - AL-ICE so fact I bothered to listen to this one says it cant be too bad.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Naah, sometimes exciting but never moving.

Any additional comments?

A bit less of the preoccupation with having to service multiple women than the first book (which was welcome as didn't do much for the plot. Not a bad story, not great but held my interest till the end which is better than a good many. The hero is a bit too perfect to be credible - reminds me of myself :)

Surprisingly Good Series

Really interesting. What's amusing is that this is a totally male centric series and many aspects of are outrageous and really not for ... shall we say ... younger listeners. I wasn't sure about it after an hour or two of the first book, but having just finished the second I'm hooked. Great action, original story telling, and a lot of "feel good" factor. If you like military science fiction and you're in the mood for easy listening, then ALICE is for you.

Predictable and just too much team America

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

More realistic to cover life’s failures. Everything works out and as is typical for many American views on the world the main characters survive no matter what.

You gotta kill off some key characters and put some real drama into the book

Would you recommend Alice-9 to your friends? Why or why not?

It’s a bland read so 8m on the fence. If there is nothing else’s out there this is ok

What aspect of David Drummond’s performance might you have changed?

He is ok. Has a silky voice so not bad

What character would you cut from Alice-9?

Difficult question. None I suppose. nobody annoys me

Any additional comments?

Still too much about one marine and his resourcefulness to be realistic.

Another American brought up on Rambo. Shame as good concept.
