About this listen

What harm can one small lie do?

Forced to give up her career as a dentist, and still unemployed a year later, Valentina Knight has finally run out of options. With foreclosure looming she acts in desperation, lying to get a position as an assistant to the county medical examiner. Val's relieved. She won't be homeless. But Val didn't count on the lie trapping her in a dangerous game with a killer.

Val quickly becomes involved in the case of Francine Donohue, who disappeared from her neighborhood and is discovered dead six months later. The bizarre circumstances surrounding the murder are not the first of their kind. With the evidence pointing to a serial killer, and a calling card Val understands, she quickly gets sucked into the case.

As Val is pulled in further, the situation takes a darker turn. Someone is aware of the lie she told. Someone who is prepared to kill...

Twists and turns

English accent of one detective was a little off putting otherwise a great free read.

Well paced, good narration!

Really enjoyable story, well- thought out plot and characters. Especially good as it was from plus catalogue.

Narration sounds like AI

OK story but the weak protagonist and bizarre narration are off putting. Perhaps would have enjoyed this more if Read as a traditional book.

Engaging

Great story line, kept you guessing practically to the end, which, is okay, great twist though.

I got this for free, so was ok.

Story line a little complicated and it lost me, but I was a little bored, it was ok for free, I wouldn’t want to pay for it

Great story

I really enjoyed the plot and I was interested straight away. I liked the narrator most of the time, although some words were said strangely. Great overall.

Unrealistic

Sadly it took too long to get started with too many dentist lessons. The story had too many subplots and was over complicated and consequently unrealistic. English accent needs working on.

Gory descriptions of autopsy

Didn’t like clipped way the narrator read the story. Not very good impressions of different voices
