Summary

It’s been five years since Detective Amanda Steele’s life was derailed by the tragic death of her young daughter. The small community of Dumfries, Virginia, may have moved on, but Amanda cannot. When the man who killed Lindsey is found murdered, she can’t keep away from the case.

Fighting her sergeant to be allowed to work such a personal investigation, Amanda is in a race to prove that she can uncover the truth. But the more she digs into the past of the man who destroyed her future, the more shocking discoveries she makes. And when Amanda finds the link between a silver bracelet in his possession and the brutal unsolved murder of a young woman five years ago, she realizes she’s caught up in something darker than she ever imagined and suspects that more girls could be in danger.

But as Amanda edges toward the truth, she gets closer to a secret as personal as it is deadly. Amanda has stumbled upon a dangerous killer, and she must face some terrible truths in order to catch this killer - and save his next victim as she couldn’t save her own daughter....

A gripping, addictive thriller full of mystery and suspense. Perfect for fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni.

couldn't finish

I want the crime and find the repeat off what happened to her husband, daughter and pregnancy again and again so annoying.

50% through book and not getting any better..

50% through book and not getting any better.. I do not like the main character. Enough dredging up the past. She is so angry and hateful to everybody.

Little Grave

Love this book, I would turn it on while driving to work. I enjoy listening to the story since I am familiar with the Woodbridge, and Dumphries area.

Great Story!

I loved the story & narration! The ONLY bad part about this book is her attitude. She has a horrible attitude, but does get better by the end of the book.

Trigger Warnings

Loss of a child, robotic narration, immature writing, contrived plot. I finished it, but skipped a couple of hours of unpleasant listening.

Sad

I have to stop listening. Wish I could get my credit back. I do not like the main character at all. Just a negative book. Usually I can give a book a chance but not this one

Virginia Native

As a native to Virginia I enjoyed hearing our towns/cities in the story. Which was well written and enjoyable. I was surprised to hear the author depict Dumfries and Manassas in Prince William County as “Small Towns” when the population is over 400,000 people. And the narrator give the characters deep southern accents. Definitely will finish the series!

I actually heard the third book in the series first. I really liked it, so I wanted to start from the beginning. Very well written and narrated.

Well Written

I read a lot of books. This was worth a credit and I'm looking forward to the next book. Narrator was great as well.
