Summary

Pirates and slavers beware. The Spacemage is coming for you!

All Thorn wanted was to be a Battle Mage. He had the talent, and his whole future was before him. On the day of Choosing, he finds things don't always go as planned. Suddenly Thorn's life is thrown into fast forward, and he finds himself in a world not of his own choosing.

In a world of spaceships and blasters, instead of horses and swords, Thorn needs to adapt and survive, make new allies, and rediscover that although nothing is familiar, he's still a Mage, and pirates and slavers beware.

Yesterday is history, and today he's become Yesterday's Spacemage.

Good listen

I really can’t seem to get enough of this author. He in my eyes is brilliant. Story is great. But if i had one criticismit’s the narrater not the best. Graham Halstead from the hunters Legacy is far better.

Easy listen but nothing mind blowing

I actually really liked the concept. A prequel might make this a lot more interesting. There was something missing but I really can’t put my finger on it.

Terrible narration ruins a decent story

It was slow to start, but eventually I came to enjoy it. I particularly liked the way magic was used. Unfortunately the narration was terrible. The narrator is clearly an American, but he is trying for some reason to narrate in an English accent and fails terribly. Really got fed up with him saying 'tord' for 'toward'. As for the rest of the time, it was like he was pronouncing each word individually, as though each word was a sentence. Occassionally he would forget and get his accents mixed up. One lady started with a Chinese accent and the next time we met her she had the typical poor English accent. Because I have been enjoying the story, I have downloaded the next two books to my kindle, I am sure they will sound better when I read them myself.

Trashy kids book

Story basically makes no sense. Half baked philosophy is yuk. The narrator wasn't good, he constantly stresses random low impact words in sentences.

So bad, i didn't even finish

Inconsistent, boring, uninspired. Stuff just happens, there is no plot, first several hours does not describe the fictional world, except the intro, which was made irrelevant due to time travel.

Not my cup of tea

Very boring belaboured narrative. Much time is covered and yet the main character feels hollow. It shows signs of growth when more characters appear (halfway through), but the tortuous prose, describing every minutiae without anything in an interesting way.......I couldn't finish the book even at 2x speed.
That's not to say the writing won't work for some, but the juvenile tone that attempts to grapple with very serious adult themes falls very flat, I believe. Some may enjoy this style, I know the author is very popular, but proceed with caution I'd say.
The narration is good though.
