Summary

Last week I was a waitress. Now I’m turning into a monster.

No one knows the truth, except the faceless man - a twisted sorcerer who’s hellbent on stealing my soul. He’s invaded my dreams, and now he’s trying to turn the pack against me.

With secrets and danger close on my heels, the only one who can help me tame my inner beast is Jaxson Laurent - the Chicago alpha. He could rule me with one look of his honey gold eyes, but I will never submit.

Do I dare trust him? Even though the heat between us is explosive, the hatred between our families runs deep. The last time we worked together I barely escaped with my life. And if it comes down to choosing me or his pack, I know who he’ll pick.

Time is ticking, and my life is hanging in the balance. Can I outmaneuver the sorcerer and make my fate my own?

Book two of four.

An action-packed urban fantasy, Untamed Fate features a kick-ass heroine, a dangerous alpha hero, and a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance.

Prepare to be drawn into a mysterious and magical world, full of demons, shifters, and sorcerers.

This story is set in the wider Dragon’s Gift universe created by Linsey Hall, and if you enjoyed the archaeology, history, and daring in her books, this adventure is for you!

Really enjoyable and holds your attention

Ive listened to a lot of books in this genre some are really excellent and you cant put them down - like for example the Mercy Thompson books but a lot are fairly average.

Fortunately this series fits into the excellent category.

This book follows on from Wolf Marked and continues the story arc as our heroine battles the evil sorcerer. Its an enjoyable plot with the fairly standard love element of 2 people who are clearly destined for each other but trying their hardest to mess that up. I think this is an even better book than the first with more excitement and absolutely no dead pages.

The Characters are quite believable and the fact that our 2 main players have their flaws but ultimately have good intentions is both annoying and entertaining at the same time.
Ironically my 2 favourite characters are the sidekicks Sam and Casey who are great

I cant wait for book 3

A better read than listen

I started out reading this through Kindle Unlimited but when my work day started the next day, I didn’t want to wait for my work day to be over to pick it back up, so I bought the audiobook. I really did not enjoy the narration, especially Jeffery Kafer. Every time he’d start reading, all I could think of was those over dramatized spoof movie previews you see sometimes with silly voiceovers. Samantha Cook was okay, but honestly I think someone better could have been chosen who might’ve fit the feistiness of Savanna’s character better. I got to the point where I was finding the characters less and less likable, and part of that was the narration. I liked them better when I read the book myself and could interpret some inflections myself.

I started out liking the story pretty well in the first book, but the whole werewolf vs. Lasalle angle got old pretty fast and the way so many characters hate each other for no real good reason didn’t work for me. And (spoiler warning!) I couldn’t get on board with the way Savanna and her wolf were more like dual personalities than a team and the way the wolf talked to Savanna like she was a normal person who was a bystander in her own body was dumb. And when the wolf would take over…again, it just didn’t work for me. I had high hopes for this series, but I’m done, I will not be reading any future installments of the series.

Interesting

It’s an interesting storyline, and am debating if I continue with the rest of the series. There are a fee things that oft make me turn my eyes upward. The main characters constant moaning “it’s too much” or “i can’t breathe” or her ability to go from I love and can’t live without … to I hate you and don’t get near me … is so immature that it is cringeworthy. Lastly… the CONSTANT repetition of what we already know. What was said four times in the first book… now repeated five times in the second? UGH!!!! Also… pulling a new character, or new abilities out of the blue here and there, makes it seem like the book was not properly planned. But alas! Interesting none the less.

typical werewolf romance novel

for the most part, it falls in line with all the werewolf romance novels I've read/ listened to: some loner girl wrapped up in some sort of trouble woth the supernatural, handsome rich werewolf daddy.

but I'll probably have to say it has the most fascinating storylines of any of the other books I've finished--with more magic, a magic city etc etc. most of the characters are interesting.

BUT what kills it for me is how much of a fucking self centered cunt Savannah is. literally the stupidest protagonist in any of the werewolf novels I've completed and most angering. i think her whole 'i need to defy everyone' complex is the most annoying trait for her character.
all of the females in the novels I've read had this complex to a lesser extent and didnt last nearly as long. this bitch's ego is on steroids and i hate it. easily the most hated character of the two books so far, too bad shes the center of all of it. I'd prefer it to be all from Jackson's point of view.

I'm going to continue the books but holy fuck i hope she fucking gets a fucking reality check.

not as good as the last one

the narrator is phenomenal however the main female character has really started to aggravate me. the fact that she is so defiant on every little thing with her and and Jackson's relationship is frustrating to listen to. I ended up skipping the last chapter completely. great fight scenes.

Great Series

I can’t wait for the next book. I just wish Savanna would become an badass faster. They haven’t really show her powers that much but it’s a great book. Love this narrator also.

Untamed Fate

I am absolutely enamored with this series. The first book Wolf Marked absolutely dug it’s claws into me deep and I can’t get enough of this series! The flow of the story was perfect. The plot of the story really thickens in this book and we get so much more information. There are still plenty of things that are a mystery and I am absolutely looking forward to uncovering them as the series progresses in the next installment.I enjoyed the way that the author have created the storyline for this series.she did an outstanding job building this world and did a fantastic job plotting the characters. The narration on this series is outstanding. It very welcoming and ultimately mesmerizing. They did such an amazing job on bringing the characters to life. I grew so attached to the characters within this book.Savannah is one of my favorite kinds of female main characters. She is strong willed, brave, independent and has such a good heart. She can be fierce when she needs to be and she doesn’t back down for anything.I loved Jaxson’s character in this book as well.Especially Sam and Casey.some of the characters are still very mysterious.with so much turmoil over loyalties and bad blood between the families. It honestly is hard sometimes to tell who can be trusted.Savannah and Jaxson have an electric almost searing chemistry.I am so here for the forbidden love and enemies to lovers vibe within this story.Their banter is delicious and the push and pull that they have is so tantalizing. There are some massive developments for Savannah and Jaxson’s love story within this book. There was also a tiny bit of a spark of promise that Sam and Casey might be a love interest at some point. I highly recommend everyone to check this series out.

Such a riveting listen!

This was such a addicting listen. I honestly hated having to pause. The narrators Samantha and Jeffery are fantastic at portraying both main characters, Savannah and Jaxson.
The second installment certainly amps up on the action and it was a fast pace for me. I thoroughly enjoyed going to all the places that Savannah and Jaxson were traveling to.
I’m eager to see what happens between Savannah and Jaxson. I’m certainly invested with those two.
Looking forward to listening to the next book.
