Summary
Adam Mulvaney lives a double life. By day, he’s the spoiled youngest son of an eccentric billionaire. By night, he’s an unrepentant killer, one of seven psychopaths raised to right the wrongs of a justice system that keeps failing.
Noah Holt has spent years dreaming of vengeance for the death of his father, but when faced with his killer, he learns a daunting truth he can’t escape. His father was a monster.
Unable to ignore his own surfacing memories, Noah embarks on a quest to find the truth about his childhood with the help of an unlikely ally: the very person who murdered his father. Since their confrontation, Adam is obsessed with Noah, and he wants to help him uncover the answers he seeks, however dark they may be.
The two share a mutual attraction, but, deep down, Noah knows Adam’s not like other boys. Adam can’t love. He wasn’t born that way. But he refuses to let Noah go, and Noah’s not sure he wants him to.
Can Adam prove to Noah that passion, power, and protection are just as good as love?
Unhinged is a fast-paced roller-coaster ride of a romance with an HEA and no cliff-hangers. It features a dirty-talking, possessive psychopath and a sweet cinnamon roll of a boy with daddy issues and a core of steel. There’s gratuitous violence, very dark humor, enough steam to fog up a hundred car windows, and something a lot like love. This is book one in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.

Fantastic
Adam Mulvaney was adopted by Thomas Mulvaney when he was 6 and like the rest of his adopted brothers he was trained to kill. The night he meets Noah who holds a gun to his head he should be terrified but he’s curious about him and starts to stalk him. I enjoyed the story and the witty banter between the brothers had me laughing and I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series . Liam DiCosimo narrated perfectly as usual.

Excellent book
This is an excellent start to a series. I saw it as an recommendation and thought I'll try it. Glad I did, first time author and narrator and both excellent. Now onto book two.

Possessive
Adam was great to listen to. Delightfully possessive, kind of obsessed with Noah. This introduction to the series makes me want to continue on to listen to all the brother's stories

Unhinged indeed
When I bought this, I had every intention of reading it right away. It was Everywhere and I wanted in on the hype. I clearly didn't and now I'm kicking myself. Because this was fantastic and so much better than I was expecting. How can a family of sociopathic unalivers be so wholesome? Because the Mulvaney family strike me as exactly that. Adam is well aware of what and who he is. All of the flaws, he has them. Noah is after Adam Because of something that connects their past. I seriously am blown away at how good this way. It was way darker than I thought and you have to check your triggers for this because it's rough. But I'm so excited to read this entire series.

Not as good as I hoped
I went in expecting something gritty, with interesting relationship dynamics. Perhaps a little hard hitting like Hades Hangmen series by Tillie Cole, underground world in a sexy way like Welcome to the Point series by Jay Crownover, sexy overcoming trauma like New Species series by Laurann Dohner, or gritty-cool like the King series or All the Rage by T.M. Frazier, or maybe something entertaining like The Hitman’s Guide by Alice Winters (initial ones are m/f, Alice Winters is m/m), as all of those books had threads of storylines that overlap this one …but in the end it was just a bit tepid. You’re told he’s a psychopath and unable to feel many emotions, but that’s not what comes across at all. Just seems like a typical man and a normal romance. Yes they’re into pain etc, but not in a way that pushes the boat out much. It’s just an average romance book, with a more interesting than normal premise, but delivered in a way that doesn’t drag you in at all. I even considered stopping listening at one point as it was a bit dull. Wasted opportunity! This premise could have created an amazing series.
