 The Phelans have owned Mossgrove for generations. This was one of the Irish novels I have so far encountered. It is story of an Irish farming family and their neighbours describing the good and the bad in Irish society in post war rural Ireland. It might have been improved by a little more historical background. It didn't bother me too much as the story was so gripping.The narration was excellent, so perhaps compensated for the lack of date setting. If there had been pages to turn - I would have described it as a page turner.

Thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to this trilogy. The narration draws you in and is so well done that you feel you get to know the characters and there places within the family. Will look forward to listen in to the second book.
