Summary

A warm, spellbinding tale of friendship, love and second chances from this number one best-selling author.

Behind the brightly coloured doors of Miller's Avenue live people with very complicated lives....

When Yvonne in number seven joins an online dating website, she's looking for something more than friendship but, after a series of disastrous encounters, decides to shut down her account. Is she shutting out her only chance of finding love?

While next door Dan, still reeling from his wife's desertion, signs up for a cookery course. As his lemon souffle rises, so does his interest in someone close to home....

Further along, Kathryn is struggling to keep her marriage together despite the best efforts of her interfering mother-in-law. As tension grows between the two women, Kathryn wonders if Grainne will finally succeed, as she realises that she may never give her husband, Justin, what he wants.

As the drama unfolds along Millers Avenue, the inhabitants learn that the things you most yearn for can often be found on your own doorstep.

...a few twists and turns but fairly weak and boring stories about neighbouring families.. monotonous voice of story teller...didn't help !

good

The book is about three families who live in three houses in a row.
it is confusing to keep up with the three families at first,
but when you get into the story it is good.

Not for me.

Not only does the narrator have the most annoying cadence but the story drags relentlessly. I had to call it quits when a school girls is being attacked by a 'dirty old man' on a museum visit.
Think twice before wasting your time.

Too graphic

I think this book should come with a warning. The child abuse was far too graphic and unnecessary. I usually listen while in bed, needless to say I did not sleep well after this chapter. I didn't finish the book and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

great book, wish the ending was a bit tighter

this is a story told really well. the characters were so full and I never got bored. I liked how seemingly unconnected characters came together so effortlessly. (SPOILER ALERT!)I think the end with Clara and Dan could have been done better. it felt like their characters where left up in the air. I the Aussie guy could have been connected to Ali.. it doesn't take away from the story so don't let that put you off ..
