Summary

War is only the beginning...

From number one New York Times best-selling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book four in her Blood and Ash series.

From the desperation of golden crowns...

Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

And born of mortal flesh...

Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way - because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.

A great primal power rises...

Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear - to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be - what she fears the most.

As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

Love this book

It was amazing, even if slow at times, I really like it flowed and change, as well as the wealth of information that we got. The way Kieran and Poppy got closer and relied on each other for strength and support during Cas’s captivity was beautiful and completely fine. That ending was quite something.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that Stina did make a lot of mistakes with names etc. despite that I still love her performance.

Wow - just wow

Struggling for words to describe exactly how much I enjoyed this book. Fourth in the series, with incredibly written twisting plot, answering many questions and raising too many more. It’s outstanding, what we all have come to expect from Jennifer L Armentrout. It left me breathless with joy and anticipation, filled with anxiety and rooting for the characters until the last page. The narration made the book even better for me. Thoroughly and most highly recommended.

Loved it!

This book delivered on all my expectations! I can’t wait for ASITE2 now. My only criticism of the recording is that the narrator cannot pronounce the word “entombed” which crops up a lot and as she voices all the characters no one can pronounce it properly - it’s always “entuumed” rather than “entoomed” which kept breaking me out of the moment. The actual story and the rest of the narration was on point and a joy.

The story did not disappoint

Love the story, of course! was not disappointed and it was AMAZING! This is my favourite series ever!!!
I always love Stina's narration in everything she does. I personally don't like male narrators, their "female voices" are always ridiculous and throw me out of the story every time. Thankfully not too many chapters with it though. I personally would have preferred Stina to have narrated the whole book, her male voices are fantastic. It would have been utter perfection if it had been just her voice.

Jarring narrator

I’ve been wanting a POV from Cas for a while, but after 3 books of the same reader, I got used to the style and pace, starting this book with a different reader, that’s faster and the style is different made it really hard to want to keep listening. Just super jarring and annoying 😫 would have been totally fine to use the original reader for both parts

how they could!

like, I get it's a book, but they were separated for like 40 days, during which time he hadn't washed or brushed his teeth and JLA thinks it's spicy to write in some action without having him get clean first. I skipped passed that because no way!
just before this bit there was a confusing misnaming of who was doing which action.

This is such a good addition to the story! Left on a nice cliffhanger, with loads more room for the story to develop.

It's okay

The story line picks up but its slow. The sex scenes are cringe and unnecessary. I'll listen to the series just to know how it ends but I'm not a fan.

Not as good as the others

Okay it's still a good book but it's not as good as the others.
I feel like you wouldn't get half of it if you haven't read the spin off.. And that shouldn't be.
Also I HATE what they did with Kieran he should have had his own love interest!
And Casteel idk.. I liked he got his own narrator now but not sure of their choice of narrator. And he seems like a side piece that only has sex on his brains which I'm pretty sure he does cause he is who he is.. But his depth and his character seems somehow neclected in this book. Which I'd actually also say about Kieran.
