Summary
I want vengeance so badly that I can almost taste it. It's all I've ever wanted. So, I did what anyone in my unique position would do. I slapped on a secret identity and became an internationally renowned thief, known as The Fox. Nobody knows me. Nobody can catch me.
Or so I thought.... It turns out: I have what they want. Special abilities. And trust me, these abilities are coveted - and dangerous. Now, I don't know who to trust or where to go. Peril lurks on every corner as I try to uncover my past and origin. Teaming up with unlikely allies may be my only chance at survival or my biggest mistake. Only time will tell. I'm Kit Davenport and this is only the beginning.
Warning: This book is a reverse harem. It also contains violence, sex, bad language, and content which some readers may find triggering.
"One of my favourite reads this year!" (Jaymin Eve, USA Today best-selling author)
"This is the reverse harem book you've been waiting for...." (Rebecca Royce, best-selling author of The Westervelt Wolves)
"Sly like a fox, Tate James lures you into this Reverse Harem thriller full of twists, turns, and tempting men!" (A&E Kirk, best-selling author of The Divinicus Nex Chronicles)

AWFUL male narrator
The male narrator was so bad I couldn't even get half way through - like nails down your back bad. I can't actually comment on the plot or story because I never got that far

love this series
I've read this series before and loved it. Being a busy mom now though, I needed to be able to do my chores instead of just sitting and reading.. so for this first time in years, I've don't chores with a smile. this story is incredible and I absolutely adore Kit.

The Potential For An Excellent Series!😍
A 4.25 Star Read!⭐️
The Vixen's Lead: Kit Davenport, Book 1
By: Tate James
Audiobook 🎧
Narrated by: Marnye Young Matt Haynes
Length: 8 hrs and 42 mins
I thoroughly enjoyed this series opener.👍
Kit is in an exclusive school with her best friend Lucy. They grew up together in a 'care home' that was high on punishment and low on care, at the very least!😔 After both were adopted by different families, Kit's new 'Dad' paid for Lucy's schooling too.
To try to take some control back, with Lucy working her magic behind the scenes, and Kit doing her thing using her super strength and speed, they permanently borrow and sell things from those that hurt them! These 'things' often cost millions of dollars.😉 Kit always left a cheap figurine of a fox behind so they'd know she could always get to them.
All is going well until they aren't. A new teacher, new students, a new fighter at Kit's gym, and then old friends crawl out of the woodwork with trouble on their heals!💥
I love that this author has her narrators do dual narration. It makes it a much nicer and pleasurable listening experience.👏⭐️
I'd have loved to continue this series. Unfortunately, as I pay for KU and audible already, I can not justify paying for 6 books and audiobooks at full price.😢 My medical issues mean I can't read without listening as well. However, I would have definitely carried the series on, so I do recommend it.⭐️

Do NOT buy this audio. READ the book instead.
The male narrator is terrible. He sounds like he's talking through a phone. I'm looking for a way to get a refund. The book itself seems to be good so far.

DNF -- Too many plot problems
Couldn't get through this one. I really wanted to like it and the audiobook cast is terrific, but the plot is just too, too contrived. Plot points change to conveniently fit a new idea, sometimes within pages of each other. Kit's never heard of the group coming after her, but no, wait, just a few pages later she states she's been aware of them for a while and one they were closing in. So she just hung around waiting for them, I guess. The contrivances and convenient excuses just got to be too, too much, and I quit before any real arc could even get off the ground

distraction
The male narrator is SO distracting in his robotic and dry reading, that I had to STOP listening and read the finish of this awesome story! I sincerely regret getting this on audible! However, I do enjoy the story and have nothing but kuddos for the author!!

Typical for the style and genre
Nothing new. The main character is forgettable as is the story. It is predictable. The guys are the same as well. They could be the stereotypical types you would find in a 90s pop boy band persona/characters. The writing was very superficial, therefore, so was the character development. The sex was premature. No development, no excitement, no dept. I found myself not really caring, bored and uninterested. Is she an independent woman or is she really an insecure woman buying into society's notions on sex and the desires to be liked. A strong female lead isn't perfect, rather, relatable. She may want to prove herself in certain situations but doesn't need to because she has self confidence. The same is true for men. There is no class in the connections. Reverse harems are difficult to pull off with out being cheesy and/or cheap or feeling like a bad porno. This didn't do it for me.

Favorite Audiobook so far! Perfect selection and delivery ❤️
I thought that Marnye and Matt were perfect for telling this story! They were able to portray the different characters effortlessly and I loved they didnt just stay within their own chapters like other audiobooks do. I really enjoyed Matt portraying the different guys in the harem and Marnye when she did Kit’s inner monologue haha.
I I already loved the Vixen’s Lead and and am rereading the story before Book 5 releases later this month, but I am super excited for more audiobooks too (which I never thought I would be to be honest). I mostly listened to TVL while driving to and from work and during lunch when I had the time. It was always hard to get out of my car and I looked forward driving home haha. The story that Tate created is one of my favorites and I definitely will be getting all of them in paperback and on audiobook! Highly recommend you pick this audiobook up right now 😊

New narrators please....
What did you like about this audiobook?
I loved this story and so read all the series as it was released. I had sent messages to the author asking if this would be put into audio form and was informed it would happen.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
The very different attitudes of each character
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?
disappointing
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
better narration - both in character differentation and tone, sarcasm should sound sarcastic, shouting/yelling should be read that way
Do you have any additional comments?
I enjoyed that this is one of the few books Ive heard where the female narrator read female parts and male narrator read the male parts. I think more should be read this way. That being said..... Marnye did a decent job on her reading, not great but not terrible. Matt however was rather lackluster. Outside of giving River and Sergi accents and Henry/Harry (the weasly guy from fight club) had a sniveling voice the rest of the males from the book sounded so similar it was hard to tell who was talking. Need more variation in voices - esp for the male characters

love two narrators sharing chapters
I LOVE that they have the male narrator reading the male parts alongside the female narrator reading the female parts. this is SO much better that having the girl read the male parts during "her" chapter and the guy reading the girl parts during "his" chapter. I'm sure this is more difficult for the narrators and probably more expensive to produce, but it is SOOO WORTH IT!!!! If we could tell this was done before buying, I'd never listen to anything else.
BTW, the book is fantastic, too. This series has become one of my top 3 favorites.

Be still my heart!
One would think that five men would be to much even for the imagination, but this book makes you fall in love right off the bat! Kits humor and way of handling things is very similar to my own reactions. I love that it’s much easier to invest and absorb yourself into a book when you relate so much to the main character. If I only had the “extra” skills but if given the choice between the powers or her men...I’m going to have to go with the men! I love each and every one in this book! The ride was funny, sultry, action filled and quite a ride! Can’t wait to start the next book!

Narration made it even better
This was really good! I love reverse harem books and this was well written. The romance was there, but they're young and we're building on it so it was slow. Normally I don't like slower romances, but it fit the story and there was enough that I was happy. The paranormal aspect was cool and I can't wait to learn more about it in the rest of the series. The guys were fun, except Austin who needs to get over himself, but Cole is my favorite of the guys. He's a fighter and I like that he's tough, but sweet with Kit. Her heists were awesome and I hope we still see her pull off cool stunts in the next books. The pacing was good and didn't feel slow and the narrators did a good job, especially the guy who did all male voices.
