Awful
Possibly the dullest thing I’ve ever read. The author has some unaddressed issues surrounding body image. Every other sentence someone in the book describes Sadie as “tiny” “skinny” “scrawny” “delicate” “weak” like the author is obsessed with it. It is like a satirical play on fan fics we all wrote when we were 13 except the joke is that this novel is deadly serious. The men in the book are violent misogynists and have little to no character arc. The other women are all 1 dimensional. The men lust after Sadie with an almost peadophilic obsession with her endlessly referenced small stature and the book has about the same amount of plot as Sadie does BMI :/
Don’t even get me started on the lazy use of Sadie’s abusive past as a character device. This is handled so poorly and was infuriating to read.
She has a sister called Lucinda who allegedly means the world to her but I actually forgot about entirely until near the end due to Sadie mentioning her all of twice ever.
Just abominable. High school drivel. Absolute claptrap of the highest order.

Great RH paranormal slow burn
I've read all of the author's books and this time I wanted to listen to the audio version.
I agree with one reviewer that description focuses primarily on body features - you're reading a hot RH book so it's bound to happen but true, it can be a bit much at time. I didn't notice it when reading the book version so it doesn't distract from the storyline. Also, the writing in the subsequent books gets a lot better.
I would recommend sticking with it because it gets really amazing. full of action, surprises, slow burn hot stuff.

Cringe!
If the plot in the summary interested you, you wont find that here.
Most of the dialog is very repetitive and at times childish and cringe. I was not expecting most of the book to be just the characters lusting after each other. Had me rolling my eyes often.
What made this worse was the monotone uninterested reading style of the narrator.

Fantastic
This book does not go disappoint. In fact I found it better. I have read and re-read this book a few times but I will be listening to it over and over again now instead of reading. I felt like I was in the story with the characters as part of the “gang”. The narrator was fantastic and put feelings into her descriptions which helped me a lot as I have a problem with my eyes at the moment and I miss reading. I found that I missed some of the story when reading. Can’t wait for the next book out in audio. Will certainly buy it asap.

Excellent story and characters!
Author did an excellent job of creating the characters and this new world. I truly enjoyed the story. The description and details were enough to help you picture it in your mind without going too into detail. Narrator was a new one for me and she did an awesome job with having to narrate so many different voices. It does have a cliffhanger but don’t let that discourage you. It is worth a credit for sure!

Loved it 😍
The storyline was unique with fae, alphas, and beasts in winter freeze zone. I loved the heroine, Sadie. She has a cool and unique natural appearance with waist length white hair and ruby red eyes- plus she shifts into a saber tooth tiger with teeth over a foot long. In addition, the narration was superb. I am definitely going to read the next book because I can’t wait for it to come out in Audible.

Fabulous writing!
This book had me on edge & go from the very 1st chapter. MC is such a badass, she's witty & a smart ass! The suspense as to what she is was perfectly thought out & then mind blown when you realized what she was. Excellent writing style! Maeve York did an outstanding performance with the many characters. I truly can't wait for Book 2.

FINALLY!
It's really hard for me to find spicy romance books with a strong female mc. I've read around 100 romance books, and I've found less than 10 women mc I actually like. A lot of the time they are all spineless and damsels in distress....or constantly crying and giving into the men to easily. Ew. No thanks. This female mc is amazing! Definitely one of my new top 3 favorite female mc's. Don't get me wrong, there are times I got frustrated bc she didn't communicate some things she should have right away. But honestly... I LOVED her dark humor and sarcastic personality. I laughed so much while reading these books. Not just bc of her either, the other characters too. The banter between everyone was hilarious. The story was also unique. Not your typical fantasy creatures or fantasy worlds. It had it own spin. The only reason I didn't give everything a 5 star is bc there were some spicy things in there that made me a bit uncomfortable. But to each there own. I won't shame anyone. I enjoyed it regardless. From the sounds of it there will be more books to come with another character from these books...she was also amazing. So I can't wait to read what happens with her.

I’ve seen multiple recs on social media for this series, but it’s taken a while to get to it. But man, I sure wish I read it sooner! Holy smokes! I love the FMC’s humor and the fact she is strong (even though she thinks she is weak). The alphas have no idea who landed in their midst. The spice is super 🥵 🔥! I also bought the narration, so I wouldn’t have to stop in order to get up and do chores, etc. The narration is pretty great as well! Definitely recommend whichever version tickles your fancy!

Middle of the road
The FMC felt incredibly juvenile sometimes, but taking into consideration her background / past trauma, it's understandable, albeit a little annoying. I loved how snarky Sadie is and continues to get even more stubborn and snarky.
