Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

THIS IS NOT A PARENTING MANUAL. THIS IS REAL LIFE.

The Unmumsy Mum writes candidly about motherhood like it really is: the messy, maddening, hilarious reality, how there is no 'one size fits all' approach and how it is sometimes absolutely fine to not know what you are doing.

The lessons she's learnt while grappling with two small boys - from birth to teething, 3am night feeds to toddler tantrums, soft play to toilet training - will have you roaring with laughter and taking great comfort in the fact that it's definitely not just you...

Every new mum needs to read this

Every mum up in the middle of the night with a newborn should read this book. If you're a new mum and you feel like you're in it alone this will show you that you're not. It had me laughing out loud and crying at other chapters. Can not recommend this enough.

Essential reading for all!

I'm not a mum but am thinking about starting a family - I've followed The Unmumsy Mum on social media for a while and love her, but I hesitated listening to this book thinking it might put me off having kids!! I'm so glad I listened to it as it put all my fears about maybe not being cut out for motherhood at ease - listening to this true, no holes bared account made me feel not alone in those thoughts and that actually those thoughts are fine and normal! Sarah clearly loves her kids to bits, but isn't afraid to say that it's bloody hard work being their mum!
Thank you Sarah for being brave enough to bare your soul to the world. I'm sure you've helped many a scared, lonely parent feel like they're not alone and that better days are ahead & (without trying to be melodramatic) perhaps saved a few lives in the process.

Must read for all moms!

Mom after my own heart! I love her honest, brutal and frank opinion on all things children, motherhood and everything that comes along with it!
She says the things ever since becoming a mom I’ve wondered myself but never dare say aloud. This is the real, truthful version of motherhood and all things related, a brilliant read and assured me that actually, I am a “normal”mom and a good one at that!

great book brought to life by the author

funny memoir laughed a lot. I'm not a mum or even a mum to be at this day but it did make me think about what would be to come. Th r honest accounts are just brilliant and made house cleaning and car journeys interesting

A little shocked to hear the N-word

An entertaining listen for parents especially new mothers. A lot of the anecdotes do strike a cord. Not one for the family though as there's a lot of foul language and the N-word is also dropped which was a little shocking to hear a white British woman read out loud!
