Summary
For people who happen to be parents (or might be soon). Because for every turdy nappy you sadly deposit into a gag-reflex-inducing bin, there's a moment that's less sh*t around the corner.
This is not an audiobook that will help you grow (or raise) a human successfully. But this is a book that might, if you're not too emotionally battered - and can see through the permanent eye twitch - help you laugh a little more than you cry. But that's not guaranteed. Nothing is really guaranteed as a nurturer of the small people.
Here is one couple's take on the horrors and humour of modern parenting told from his side and hers: honest, sad and laugh-out-loud funny. From deciding to try for a baby to the harrowing realities of miscarrying, from pregnancy and labour to bringing baby home and trying to reconcile the old life with the new - this audiobook will speak to anyone with a small human of their own or hoping to take that fateful step.

Really not what it says on the tin
Very well read and easy to listen to however it is disappointing that the story seems to focus more on the sad and unfortunate parts of their experience than the uplifting and rewarding parts or how to embrace this in a casual easy way. Having recently been through the same joys of new life myself perhaps this book may have been better read before hand, although I think would have spent the whole of pregnancy worrying what may happen.
The book became a mix of a set of lists of things to prepare for a birth (available anywhere in any parenting book) and an "aren't we cool" travellers blog. Adding to this the cultural differences of becoming parents in Amsterdam rather than the UK will only appeal to a limited audience.
A small handful of humorous points but sadly not enough to make me give more positive reviews, and certainly not a book I will recommend to others. Probably great for those who have time to write and read blogs but for me i am sorry to say a true let down Mother and Pappa Pukka

Funny, Sad, Relatable
Wonderfully written parenting book which isn't so much a guide to parenting, more a 'you're not alone' hug. Loved it!

It’s depressing
Absolutely terrible, depressing… it feels like a nagging stranger complaining about life… you won’t learn anything from it

Down to earth, brilliant, comedic, honest.
Bought the hardback for my wife. Lots of good advice to be highlighted in there.

Love love love
This book is great. No heard so many where the husband has Co written and found that such a nice way to do it. They’re both amazing writers and I really enjoyed this and their next book too

Only for pre birth and babies
Sorry but I found this misleading and I’m disappointed. This is a great audible for those trying to conceive, pregnant or parenting a baby up to 12 months.. so I feel that parenting the shit out of life may be misleading.. there’s no toddler chapter.

He only becomes a feminist at the end
There’s this one part where Papa Pukka jokes that one of the advantages of going to ante-natal classes is that you get to compare your partner to all the other women you may have ended up procreating with and feel smug about your life choice. It takes him having two daughters before he realizes that society has a problem with attitudes towards women.

The must buy book for every parent
I bloody loved this - it had me laughing at crying in equal measure. It’s also prepared me perfectly for submitting my flexible working request as I approach my return to work. Thanks for sharing mama and papa pukka, I’ve just purchased your next book to keep me entertained on nap laps with a teething 8 month old!
