Summary
An eighty-year-old man is found murdered in his home. His age and standing in the community makes finding his killer difficult–why would anyone harm an elderly man? What threat could he possibly be to anyone?
With no apparent motive, DS George Cross canvases the community for potential suspects but the man was known as generous, charitable, community-minded. Each interview about who the man is muddies the picture further. So Cross decides to look for who he was–revealing a past that is far less honourable than his present . . .
Perfect for fans of MW Craven, Peter James and Joy Ellis, The Teacher is part of the DS George Cross thriller series, which can be listened to in any order.
'I am insanely in love with George Cross, a perfect detective for our time and for all time.' STEPHEN FRY

Absolutely brilliant
Really enjoyed all the previous books in this series, and this is the best so far. George is a really interesting character and the storyline of this one keeps him on his toes to the very last minute.
Brilliantly read.

Great team work amongst DS Cross, DS Ottie, Swift and Alice.
I have been listening to all DS Cross mysteries. DS Cross and DS Ottie are one of my favourite detective teams. I love the way they work together, complementing each other. DS Cross' detective skills and honesty is very refreshing to listen to. He is also non-classically funny. The stories are full of twists and turns and keeps you guessing which I find is great in a detective mystery.
I highly recommend this book and all the others in the series.
I also hope there will be more DS Cross mysteries in the future!

I wish all crime fiction was so engaging
I am disappointed to have finished this book, as I now have to wait for the next. I may have to reread the entire series. Absolutely fascinating, interesting and engaging characters all drawn well enough, to make you feel like you’re with them. The series builds well, giving you enough depth of character to keep you interested in the individuals, but also gives well developed plots that are complex and interesting.

Best George Cross book yet
Terrific story kept me guessing to the last chapter. Very exciting. Twists and turns excellent. Many topics very relevant to police work today.
