Lovely summer listen
This was a lovely easy story. Perfect for relaxing too. A bit of a thriller to balance out the romantic plot lines. Very well read, with good differing accents/voice for various characters.

Hard to warm to...
I found the story hard to get going, overuse of simile and metaphor and a difficulty warming/getting to know the characters. The plot wasn’t engaging and lacked fluidity. First of this author’s books I haven’t been impressed by. Sorry!

Disappointed when a female author writes such a weak female character
I’ve really enjoyed some other Karen Swan books but gave up on this one very early on. The main character was so annoyingly weak that I found myself groaning out loud to her reactions. And as far as I can tell, one of the pivotal scenes (spoiler alert) is when she’s asked to delete some photos of children on the beach by their father. Her indignance was totally OTT and being a pro photographer it didn’t make sense that she was so angry with him-surely she’d know she can’t do that? And her total dependence on her boyfriend was grating (wearing only his clothes for weeks-pleeeeze) and made me hope he’d find someone else!

Great listen, loved it
Wasn't sure at the beginning but this is a book with really good development. I couldn't wait for the ending and yet I never wanted the summer to end. This was a great listen any time of the year but I really funny intriguing , my only complaint is loud Bobby. This is a great group of characters, set in an awesome summer place with great twists and turns. Highly recommend.

Vision for the future is interrupted
Basically, guy says "let's put this whole thing on hold for 6 months and then pick up where we left off!". He's a fool, she's heartbroken. She gets a chance to work in the US in the Hamptons for the summer. It takes awhile, but she comes into her own. The guy returns after 6 months and there you are - what will she do?
The book is rather long, nearly 17 hours. Much of it is spent on her depression and loss of her perfectly planned future. You read about her slow but incremental growth and see a glimmer of hope for her.
Bottom line - your future is never quite what you planned it to be.
Narrator Katie Scarfe was very good. Male, female voices, as well as British and American accents were handled well.
