Two sisters and one betrayal that will carry across generations...

In wartime Cornwall, 1943, a story between two sisters begins - the story of Adele and Amelia and the heartbreaking betrayal that will divide them forever. Decades later the efforts of one reckless act still echo - but how long will it be until their past returns?

The Returning Tide will sweep you away to the beautiful Cornish coast, full of secrets and mystery, and will be loved by fans of Kate Morton and Rachel Hore.

Wonderful

I really enjoyed listening to The Returning Tide by Liz Fenwick . It was a lovely story and brilliantly read by Anne Dover as usual. The way the two different years were linked was so good and was quite sad in places. How I remember staying in the exact area of Falmouth the story was written about - it brought back so many memories - thank you!

Best yet!

With just one more book to go till I can claim a full house of Liz Fenwick novels from Audible this is my favourite of her books to date.

Although the blurb didn’t draw me to it and I left it until last but one to listen to talk about saving the best until last!!

You do need to pay attention as to which year you are in but the story is great and I found myself guessing a couple of the plot points just prior to their
exploration and still vocalised ‘no’ out loud!!

As with most books a couple of the love interest plot points shine like beacons but there are plenty of twists and turns to make it unpredictable enough to keep you interested!

Also a sideways glimpse into Cornwalls part in WWII and social history around these times.

Brilliantly performed as always by Anne Dover

Predictable

I enjoyed this as a gentle yarn, but it lacked depth. I found I was stopping at time changes to remember who was who. The characters never built enough depth to know or relate to them but despite that I enjoyed it on a superficial level. It made nice light listening

The returning tide

I enjoyed this book as it covered the past and the present so well in the story line. All through the story I had a thought that there was a twist on the story to come I wasn't that surprised but it made a good ending. Well worth listening to

Great story pitty about the pronunciation

The story is very good, if a little predictable. The pronunciation of Cornish place names was annoying, surely the reader should check things like that not just read it is spelt. Liz Fenwick must be disappointed if she has listened to it. That said I still found it an enjoyable listen almost as good as The Path to the Sea.

Took a while to get going, not bad story

This is the 2nd book I have listened to by Liz Fenwick and I feel that she writes her books for film. There is so much build up and unnecessary detail, great for a film perhaps, but not a book or audio book. I think the main point of the story could have been achieved much quicker. I had to persevere for it to develop and grab my interest. That said, it was a decent storyline, albeit a little predictable.

I think I liked it.....

I think I figured out who was who by chapter 26 but not convinced so I'll have to listen again. Very confusing at the start and the story jumps around a lot but it is expertly read by Anne Dover as usual so stick with it..... a nice ending if a little rushed.
