Summary

From the author of the bestselling Seven Sisters series, Lucinda Riley's Hothouse Flower is a moving story of love, heartbreak and, above all, hope.

Georgian mansion Wharton Park was a place of childhood solace for Julia Forrester, spending summers in the Norfolk countryside with her beloved grandfather. So after tragedy strikes, she finds herself seeking comfort at Wharton and the allure of its hothouse, once home to exotic flowers from all corners of the globe but now lying abandoned. There she meets the new owner, the charming and magnetic Kit Crawford, whose own past is shrouded in sadness and mystery.

Julia and Kit are drawn together when he finds an old diary and it is Julia’s grandmother who is able to finally shed light on Wharton Park’s past. Together they reveal a century’s worth of secrets and heartache that takes them back to war-torn Europe and leads Julia on a quest to the vibrant streets of Thailand. Will Julia and Kit be able to unearth the truth behind the fortunes and failures of the Crawford family?

loved it

I could not stop listening. As with most of Lucinda Rileys' other books, it grabs you immediately and takes hold until the end. I shed a few tears a few times. Lovely set of intertwined stories and narrated well.

Such A Lovely, Beautiful Story, I So Much Enjoyed!

I loved this beautiful story so much, especially the story of Harry and Lydia. Lucinda Riley had such a gift of writing, there is something about her books that just draws me in and I just don't want to stop listening. It's pure bliss and escapism, and I can never wait to put my earphones back in and start listening again. This is my 6th book of Lucinda's and I have loved them all so much. As it's Christmas I'm just about to start The Angel Tree. I have to add also that the narrator of this book, Stephanie Racine, was also excellent at reading this book, such a lovely voice and read with such emotion. Lucinda has left such a lovely gift behind in this world, her beautiful stories, that I personally will never forget.

A little disappointing.

I felt a bit frustrated with this story. It began beautifully and I it was absorbed in the story. As it developed it changed direction and became a bit cheesy. I felt let down and disappointed for some of the characters. It changed tack again later on which left me feeling a bit flat. However there were some interesting twists which redeemed it a bit. Not one of Lucinda's best stories.

Fabulous story, well told

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and can highly recommend it. It is the final Lucinda Riley story for me and I have enjoyed them all. Now I’m going to start again with the Seven Sisters series (my first Lucinda Riley books) and finish with Atlas, the story of Pa Salt. I recommend them all and I’m excited to get going!

Good listen

loved the book and couldn't put it down. love when a book holds you like that. although for me, the story seemed very familiar. I do wonder if I had read the book before I started to listen to books. nevertheless Lucinda is very good at writing. I have now read all her books. sad there will be no more. pa salt next to finish the seven sisters.

Ok but predictable and unbelievable in parts

It was quite long winded and not as good as her other books I’ve read, spoiler alert, how on earth did Jasmine not know she was adopted when she was apparently the absolute spit of her Thai mother. This really started to annoy me as they referred to it quite often. Then there were other parts that were just too unbelievable that didn’t have to be. Was worth a read but I’ve read better.

Twists and turns.

To begin with I was not as engaged as I have been in most of Lucinda Riley’s books, but what seemed like a love story turned into something more. It remained a love story, but was more interesting than most.

Another absorbing story from Lucinda Riley

I’m never disappointed by Lucinda Riley’s books. This story made me laugh and cry. It travelled back into the past and surprised me with twists and turns. I fell in love with the characters.
