Summary

He’d rather pick up a book than wield a sword. But, fate needs a new hero….

Young elf prince Drynn has always lived in the shadow of his athletic and popular elder brother. But, when the bookish boy’s mother dies from a mystery illness and he receives the Queen’s Opal, he’s plagued by visions of the past and a growing power. And, with the gem supposedly cursing those who possess it, he must enter the human realm to hunt down the cure…or become the next to die.

Outside the forest, Drynn finds much has changed with the world now ruled by greedy wizards coveting more magic. And, to the meek elf’s horror, the only way to end his curse is to use his swelling abilities to restore peace before everyone is doomed.

Can Drynn rise above his shy nature and fight to save his people from extinction?

Definitely a teen book series

This series is about two Elven brother's who go on a quest to find a cure for a fatal illness that runs through their bloodlines. The brothers have vastly different personalities and skill sets, which are put to the test throughout these books. The brothers become separated and Drynn the younger brother is instantly put in danger and has to fend for himself. Along the way the brother's find help from friends of different races and species, including mythical creatures. They also find evil foes looking to drain their magic or worst kill them for good. The brother's end up not only fighting for their lives but also for their people who are threatened by a great force from histories past. Book 5 concludes the series, however the author leaves it open presumably because she was considering carrying on the series or carrying on the story under a new series.

Buying this series for 1 credit is definitely worth it. I thought the story was good especially books 1 & 2, but this series is for younger ears so I struggled a little bit to hold my attention through books 3 to 5. I picked it up because there are many YA books that are ageless but this wasn't one of them in my opinion. The narrator was good but probably had too many characters to cover because quite a few sounded the same.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review
