1939: On the eve of war, young English heiress Grace Grey travels from London to the wilderness of Tasmania. Coaxed out of her shell by the attentions of her Irish neighbour, Daniel - Grace finally learns to live. But when Australian forces are called to the frontline, and Daniel with them, he leaves behind a devastating secret which will forever bind them together.

1975: Artist Willow Hawkins, and her new husband, Ben, can't believe their luck when an anonymous benefactor leaves them a house on the remote Tasmanian coast. Confused and delighted, they set out to unmask Towerhurst's previous owner - unwittingly altering the course of their lives.

2004: Libby Andrews has always been sheltered from the truth behind her father Ben's death. When she travels to London and discovers a faded photograph, a long-buried memory is unlocked, and she begins to follow an investigation that Ben could never complete. But will she realise that some secrets are best left buried . . .?

'A fabulous, immersive read! Right from the start [the] beautifully written, evocative settings swept me away, and wonderful characters, seamless interweave of timelines & layers of mystery kept me enthralled' (Zoe Miller, author of The House in the Woods)

Great storytelling . . . The Moon Gate is a richly layered atmospheric story that transports the reader from 00s London to 1970s Tasmania and beyond . . . I was drawn in from the first page (Jacquie Bloese, author of The French House)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Unfortunately the narrator’s voice really grated on me, so I struggled to keep listening, but luckily the story kept my attention. The tale itself is a beautiful and sometimes surprising one. The latter half of the book in particular though is quite frustratingly drawn out, and feels longer than it needed to be.
Nevertheless, I finished it and the ending was quite emotional and rewarding.

Wonderful story if a little drawn out

I loved this book as I felt I knew the characters and was emotionally invested in their outcomes. I’m usually a lover of crime novels , so very different type of book for me.

Great story line

not my usual style of book (usually a bit of a crime novel and thriller fan) but after enjoying her first book I thought I'd give it a go. I really really enjoyed all aspects of it, The story line(s) the characters, the globe spanning aspects and its dipping easily into different parts of history too. Rich descriptions of lush countryside bring it to life even more. The intricate twists and turns of fate for all the characters kept me guessing almost all the way through. I actually feel a little bereft now that I've finished it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this multifaceted book.

This was a gentle but engaging read. Maybe a little predictable but it didn’t detract from the enjoyable story.

Well read and enjoyable.
