Summary

It was the happiest day of her life. Little did she know it was also the last.

When a woman's body is found in the grounds of a ruined priory, Detective Imogen Evans realises she is dealing with a serial killer - a killer whose victims appear to die in a state of bliss, eyes open, smiles forever frozen on their faces.

A few miles away, single dad Ben Hofland believes his fortunes are changing at last. Forced to move back to the sleepy village where he grew up following the breakdown of his marriage, Ben finally finds work. What's more, the bullies who have been terrorising his son, Ollie, disappear. For the first time in months, Ben feels lucky.

But he is unaware that someone is watching him and Ollie. Someone who wants nothing but happiness for Ben.

Happiness...and death.

The Lucky Ones is the terrifying new thriller from the #1 bestselling author of Follow You Home.

great read

A crime novel psychological thriller.

Detective Imogen Evans is on the hunt for the Shropshire Viper, someone who has been injecting victims with morphine. While the investigation goes along evans learns of an odd connection between the three victims, she discovers theres a connection of luck & happiness tied to these killings.

Ben has moved back to the village he grew up in following the breakdown of his marriage with his son Olilie, hes the next victim, how does the killer know about his movements where hes going to be and when??

What will make Ben happy? Getting his wife back? Money? A new job? A new lover? Will his luck be in?

I came across The luck ones by chance and I'm so glad I did, I will be reading more of Mark Edward's work

Mediocre

Really average, pretty far fetched and not well written enough to enable the listener to suspend belief.
The narration was not as good enough to save it, as sometimes that makes all the difference.
Alright on a deal, but not worth a credit

Loved it

I enjoyed the story, kept me interested, the only thing that let it down was the use of the words 'cops'... we're not bloody american!

Excellent thriller

Having previously read this book I decided to listen to the audio version this time. This is a clever crime/serial killer/psychological thriller set in Shropshire. It is seriously creepy and gave me a few goosebumps as I listened. The cast of characters are well written and mostly likeable, and the setting is idyllic. As with all Mr Edwards books, there are plenty of twists, and the ending leaves room for a sequel though I don't believe Mr Edwards has any plans to write one :-(

Simon Mattack's narration was spot on!
