Summary
When one Coast Guard officer is found dead and another goes missing, Coast Guard Investigative Service special agent Finn Walker faces his most dangerous crime yet. His only clues are what little evidence remains aboard the dead officer's boat, and the direction the clues point to will test Finn and the Guard to their limits.
When investigative reporter - and Finn's boss's sister - Gabby Rowley arrives, her unrelenting questions complicate an already volatile situation. Now that she's back, the tug on Finn's heart is strong, but with the risks she's taking for her next big story, he fears she might not live through it.
Thrown together by the heinous crime, Finn and Gabby can't ignore the sparks or judgments flying between them. But will they be able to see past their preconceptions long enough to track down an elusive killer, or will they become his next mark?

Horrible narration.
Narrator reads every line like a weak, helpless victim. please learn how to not ruin books with your poor choices of tone and inflection.

Slow at first and difficult to follow
I normally enjoy Dani Pettrey’s books, this one was just a bit slower than her other books. And I would frequently get lost when the scene changed. There is also a lot of past reflections and it wasn’t always easy to follow that either. I think I’d enjoy this book more in the written form!
I’m not sure if I will listen to book two when it comes out. But I do know that I’ll be sending this one back for credit!

Not my favorite by this author.
The story was definitely full of action, but the main character annoyed me. The males also seem unrealistic. The narrator was not very good. Her male voices all sounded the same—like an old man.

Yuck
I am so disappointed in this book. The characters were flat. The plot has been done numerous times in other books. The female lead character was a pain. I really wanted to like the book.

Too boring to get through chapter one
I was excited about this book because I enjoy mysteries and the Coast Guard and anything having to do with Murder at sea. However, I couldn't listen past the first chapter. There was no interesting hooks - nothing to grab my attention and get me interested or caring abut the characters. Very disappointing to have spent a credit on this book.

Great story, not so great reader.
Disappointed in the reader’s lack of pauses between “scenes” and not enough variety in vocal differences to tell who was who. A great story as Pettrey always writes that was difficult to listen to.

Can't listen to another minute
Listening to this book should be considered a form of torture. Between the horrible storyline, constant references to God and the robotic narration I can't stand another minute.

Love her books
The story was very good, but the narration was hard to distinguish which character was taking.

Constant action
Dani Pettrey delivers another nonstop emotionally-charged narrative. I was pulled in from page one and didn’t want to stop until the final satisfying word. The narrator was excellent and did not distract. Met my expectations and more. Can’t wait to read the next one.
