Summary

Ten-year-old Floriana is captivated by the magnificent Tuscan villa near her village. When the owner’s son invites her inside, Floriana knows that her destiny is there, with him. But as they grow up, things begin to change. Miles away on the Devon coastline, Marina’s hotel has fallen on hard times. The arrival of Rafael Santoro, artist-in-residence, seems to bring peace in Marina’s family. But Rafa is not who he seems....

I loved the story

A lovely easy listen. It was just what I needed to take me away from the crazy reality that we live in 😊

The house by the sea

Santa montefiore is one of my favourite authors and this book did not disappoint. I liked how all the loose ends were tied up in the end. Although I guessed a few of the connections the majority were a real surprise to me.

couldn't stop listening, yet grieved when it ended

the two stories alongside one another gives depth, the characters very believable.
the final clarity is saved till the end.
rather an emotional book.
would appeal to someone who enjoys reading something without swear words in it.

Good story

I enjoyed this story, but less so than The Affair by the same author. I liked how it all came together in the end, leading to a satisfying climax.

Lovely story, warm and enjoyable characters

Another great story from Santa Montefiore. I love her books and this one is no exception. She paints wonderful pictures and summons up the most comforting locations. Even though the outcome was, I think, fairly predictable... it didn’t detract from a most enjoyable listen.

A great story

Wow! What a fantastic story. Although I was a bit confused at the beginning but it came all together at the end. I love it so much that for the first time I went back and listened to it again
