Summary

Gianluca's life is empty. His City job, his seven-figure income, his glossy girlfriends - all have long ceased to satisfy him. His marriage is over, and he barely knows his young daughters. gripping & very atmospheric

Close your eyes and you can feel the heat of the afternoon and the scent of lemons. The storyline will keep you alert while the vivid desciption of the South of Italy will make you want to rush and book your next holiday there. The characters are very real and their story compelling, all the more intriguing by the mysterious Francesco.

Rather plodding tale

I did get to the end of this, but at times it was a close-run thing. In the end I just wanted to finish it and move on. I've listened to better books by Santa Montefiore and I was disappointed with this one, it seemed to be such a lovely setting and interesting premise

Wordy flat story

The narrator simulates weird voices that doesn’t match the characters and this gets annoying in the progress.
This story could have been told in way shorter time.
Overall plain, sexist and discriminating against women.
Women are either sexy and sexually wanted in the sense of objects or they are considered to be a classic house wife.
One example is the professor who makes constantly sexist statements about Rosa and others.
Really really bad at all.

An Italian Delight

What an amazing lovely book. Wasnt sure of it when I chose it , but I wanted to loose myself in a story set abroad. Certainly did that . This book is a must if you love romance , but it has a touch of a ghost story weaved into it , which for me was the best part. Highly recommend this book. Yes it's a little old fashioned, but so what ? It's very true to the Italian way of life . The ending was moving, and I realised what the title of the book meant . But you will probably realise that much sooner ! As I dont try to guess , I just enjoy it as I listen. The narrator was excellent too. It wasnt difficult to get into , very enjoyable right from the start.

Wonderful

There was nothing to dislike in this story written by Santa Montefiore and read beautifully by Juanita McMahon. I absolutely loved it!

Umm

I would have enjoyed it more, if it weren't for the narrator, sickly sweet like syrup. no-one in the world speaks like that, almost to patronising , directed toward us listeners. Story good, but dragged out the last few chapters, where you just wanted to shout get on with it.

Absolutely excellent!

Such a rich and decadent listen. This narrator has done a wonderful job. I felt I was in Italy! Wonderful characters... sad, hopeful and comical. Beautiful book.

Beautiful book

2nd book in the series. Would be better to read 1st book before this but you still get the back story. Lovely feel good story and just love the narrator. Another hit for me
