On the eve of her 21st birthday, her apartment is completely trashed. Tracking down the perpetrators leads her into a growing web of mysteries. Turning 21 adds a fresh wave of complications and a reveals a dark heritage that she would never have seen coming. To make things worse, a new client brings even more layers into the mess.

More Erotica Than Urban Fantasy
I would more describe this as erotica first, and urban fantasy second. Once I shifted my perspective when I listened to it, it got better. Because listening to heavily explicit sex scenes before I've had coffee on my drive into work, was not ideal. But once shifted to evening listening it was a bit easier.
It's very clearly a man writing a woman main lead in a sex driven book. So, as a reader who happens to be a woman, there was a massive amount of eye rolling going on. It's a lot of fantasy fulfillment and not very realistic woman behavior. It's what the average male wishes women were like as a main character.
Alex is not a very competent, or experienced, PI. I'm not entirely sure why anyone hires her except she's insanely attractive and has lots of sex. But she seems to continue through by sheer luck.
The sex scenes were steamy. If this had been sold as erotica, and I had known what I was getting into, I would have liked it more. As erotica, it would have been a 3, maybe 4, star. As urban fantasy, it's two, being generous.
The bright spot in all of this, is Jessica Hepburn. The narration is wonderful. I would definitely listen to anything, not in this series, narrated by her again. She did a great job bring the characters to life. Without her my interest wouldn't have been able to continue at all.

paranormal fun
The main character is a succubus and from that you might rightly suspect that there is sex scattered though out the story most of it fairly mild. Alex turns 21 and her slightly crazy world gets really crazy as her apartment is destroyed and in desperation takes a job with a very mysterious man to guard his treasure for the next ten days.
There are lots of story threads in this book but its well written and performed. There are enough open threads to anticipate another book but there isn't any cliffhangers that leave you hanging. The beings have a more old world middle eastern flavor of which some I'm not very familiar with. I especially liked the Hinn.
I eagerly say I enjoyed the book very much, and recommend it highly and look forward to further in the series.

Disappointing
I was excited about this book but found it disappointing. I tried to get into it but was difficult to stay listening. The narration was the best thing about this book. Characters were shallow and poorly developed. The supernatural stuff tried to be a plot, but wasn’t well researched or explained so fell flat; the gratuitous sex was overboard- way more then necessary for my taste.
Overall, a disappointment.

Great World Building & Character Development
This was a great start to a new urban fantasy series! Alexandra isn’t your normal private investigator and makes ends meet with some weird and messy jobs, especially the one from her newest client. Turning twenty one has complicated her life and also reveals her heritage and the world she actually lives in. I really liked Alex’s spunky and crafty personality and that she was bisexual. Yes, this book has quite a bit of sex in it, but it actually fits the story and doesn’t feel like page fillers. The world that Devin has created is intriguing and well developed. I loved the idea of there being three type of beings- made from light and dark (angels and demons), made from fire (Djinn/ supernaturals), and ones made of clay (humans); also there are half-bloods that are created by demons and humans. This book was filled with suspense, twists and turns, and a lot of action!
Jessica did another great job with this narration! She spoke at a steady pace, used distinguishable voices for every character, and really brought the main character to life. Her performance added to the action, steam, and suspense of the book!

Paranormal mystery
The storyline was great . The narrator was ok. Was slow to catch my attention at first but then got more interesting. It's about a private investigator who starts to understand a new world while investigating crimes committed by yhe paranormal world in which she belongs. If you like Jin and mystery then it's definitely a great read.

Home-run for Devin
I had a great time listening to this book. Characters are well developed, storyline isn't a cliche and the steamy stuff isn't done in poor taste or overwhelmingly dull! Great job!

Exciting and Riveting
I enjoyed the unraveling of the mystery as the novel progresses, the development of the characters, and the witty repartee. The book keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat as the tension mounts. And the erotic scenes are... hot!
