Summary
Olivia Carver's life in Lake Cabot, New York, is simple. That's how she likes it, even if she can't stop the town she loves from being overrun by wealthy tourists each summer. When she's not working at her family's paddleboard shop or spending time with her lovable but infuriating brothers, she puts her energy into writing professionally, a dream that has yet to materialize.
Valerie Maycomb used to summer in Lake Cabot with her family when she was younger, until school and planning for her future became the driving forces in her existence. For the first time in years, following her college graduation, she's spending a few months in the small, lakeside town she loved as a child. All she wants is a little time to decompress before law school in the fall and maybe even strike up the courage to talk to a woman.
A chance meeting at the lake opens up the possibility of a summer romance, with the explicit understanding that it can't become something more. Olivia's not built for falling in love, and Val needs to keep her eye on the prize of a successful career. But neither of them can deny the attraction, and summer quickly takes on a life of its own.
Contains mature themes.

A moving but ultimately sweet romance
I found this charming romance about two young women finding each other despite their very different situations moving and at times it brought me to tears. It is nicely written Monica McCallan - I will look out for more by her.
Lori Prince's narration style, which is best suited to romcoms, is mostly spot on. She enhances the story and brings the characters to life, although on the odd occasion her tone is slightly too flippant.

Flawless 💕
To begin with, this is not only a wonderful story of love and passion, between two people. It is not fluff that just connects romance a heat.
In truth I think it is insulting to simply categorize it by calling it just a work of lesbian romance.
The two lovers have real depth which the author tests by placing a multitude of realistic problems and obstacles before them. And, they deal with them in a manner that allows them slowly to be true to themselves. Watching them evolve is a pleasure.
Ms. McCallan also provides a wonderful cast of secondary charters who are not just props to move things along, but rather add real assistance to making this a story more than just a romance.
And I want to applaud the always reliable Ms. Prince for delivering her reliably stellar performance👍
I look forward to experiencing more work from this unbeatable pair.

Perfect Pairing..
I read the book and it was amazing, having Lori Prince do the audio was the perfect choice. The description really does sum up the book, not one for spoilers, with that said, looking for another great Lori Prince performance PLUS Monica McCallan writing, this one is right up your alley, HIIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Just my 2 cents. Hoping the rest of Ms. McCallan collection make their way to the audible world.

Love it!
It took me awhile to purchase...how would I relate as a 50-something to two 20-somethings falling in love? But it kept getting great reviews and I'm a sucker for a good story so I bought it. I'm sooo glad I did. Good story, good character development, good "follow your dreams" message. It really was hard to put down and I was sad when it ended; the mark of a good listen.

Very well written and a pleasure to read
The character development was wonderfully done, not just the main characters, but the secondary as well, the sage, the relatives, etc.
The lake, the bar, the bakery etc, settings were described in a fun, smooth way.
Sub plots fit perfectly and were entertaining.
I enjoyed her similes.
The reading was fantastic.
I would listen to another by this combination of writer/narrator.
My only very, very, very minor complaint is not just this one, but others in the romance genre . Do they have to not only find love, but hit the financial jackpot? If it’s real love, do they need find the good life or can’t the live in the life where they met and became happy.

Great story and phenomenal narration
Why can I imagine Lori Prince sitting at a dinner party and entertaining everyone with the voice of Mr Hutchinson? Monica McCallan has written a multi-dimensional story that invested me in the characters and made me cheer for them in the end. One of the best of many dozens of les-doc novels that I’ve listened to in the past year. Lori Prince brings it to life with her narration and her authentic voice. Well done.

GREAT
Loved all the characters and the way it was written without confusion. When a book has several characters, there are times it gets convoluted, but Monica McCallan did a wonderful job in developing each one that let me get to know them, but nit lose sight of the story line and how they support this story! First book I’ve read of hers and I plan to look up more! Great listen to!!
