Critic reviews
"Britain's female Stephen King." (Daily Mail)
"Her books have the ability to simultaneously make you unable to stop reading while wishing you could bury the book somewhere deep underground where it can't be found. Compelling and haunting." (Sunday Express)
"Some writers have it, and some don't. C. J. Tudor has it big time." (Lee Child)

Dreadful
I could not engage with this very boring and predictable rubbish......I stuck with it to almost the end but have up with an hour left...couldn't care less what happened . Awful .

Tawdry confused second rate horror
I’ve read a lot by this author and really enjoyed them. This one however is awful. Confused, dull, dreadful plot and unpleasant characters. I gave up at 30%

Brilliant narration and a suspense story
CJ Tudor does not disappoint - I usually don’t do “ dystopian “ but all the suspense and twists and turns of CJ style here
The narration is brilliant - especially Richard Armitage - bringing the story to life and building up the suspense
Slowly the links between the three narratives emerge - and I worked it out just before
The title of the book is extremely clever ( once you’ve listened you will know what I mean ! )
Just loved it

Not the best, sadly - but works on some levels
Firstly, it is well written and narrated, but the story is meandering and a bit complicated to follow - I stuck with it, but isn’t one I would ever revisit.
This is a new author for me, and I wasn’t expecting zombie apocalypse, instead I was expecting a straightforward who done it in the snow.

Hard to follow and just not very scary
I have read/listened to other books by this author and always found them to be pretty good. So I was looking forward to listening to this one. I'm sad to say, it didn't live up to expectation.
The story runs on 2 timelines about 20 years apart. I don't have necessarily have a problem with that. The fact that it took me 3/4 way through the book to notice it, is more of an issue.
If you have ever watched Pulp Fiction you'll know what I mean. Lots of characters. Seemingly unrelated plots vaguely held together by an overarching theme. And you don't realise until the end that it's all part of the same story.
Now imagine it without visuals. Confusing, right?
Right.

A genius book.
I very nearly gave up about three chapters in. There are a lot of characters in each of the stories in this book and I would normally struggle to keep track of them all. But I am so glad I carried on.
First off the narrators are good. Each one was the same pace and no stupid voices when doing female or males voices.
The amazing way the author has weaved all the people together in this book until the end was just genius.
It is fast paced the entire time and the story had me engaged so much I listened to this book in one day.
I have waited for a new book by this author for so long and it didn’t disappoint. My definite five star read.

Another great book
loved the book. The way it all comes together. I listen in the car while driving to and from work, even drove slower so I could hear more. I would say just as great as her other books, and it was narrated really well.

Overall - so close being great
This was a really breakneck book. The tension and pace were high without. It did get a little convoluted at the end, but I enjoyed it overall.
4/5 for performance because two narrators were great and one was very poor. Naming no names but the drop off was so pronounced, I was almost tempted to skip that person's chapters. I didn't...

Awful
I’m really upset at this book
I like most of the books she’s written, but the language and awful blasphemy in this was too much. I’ve deleted it and certainly don’t recommend it to anyone.

A really clever but very different C J Tudor book.
I was quite confused at first but when I got into the book I was hooked. Three stories with multiple characters which you do wonder where it is going but bear with it as it all comes together. It is dark, complex and very different to the author's other novel's.
