second half much better
hard going in a few places at first and dragged a little in a few places. got better as the story went although got quite lost between all the differwnt characters and jumping ack and forward in time. I wanted to keep listening though and enjoyed the last half a lot more.

Muddled
I found this book disappointing. I usually enjoy Kate Morton’s books as they are written well and long. This time the story was disjointed going back and forth over time. Sometimes it was difficult to identify a character at the start of a new chapter. I felt the ending was rushed too.

Great, imaginative and unique tale
A great listen, I really didn't know where it was going and the characters, introduced and evolved throughout the book, were great. It's a really unique story in a time where many plots are replicas of other stories. I really loved it. Finished it in a few days as made excuses to find a way to listen to my audio!

Loved every minute....! :-)
This is my first encounter with Kate Morton and I am really impressed!
The writing-style is cleverly crafted and quite beautiful. The story is interesting and well-told. The characters are well-defined and interesting. And as a bonus, it is very well narrated!

Fantastic!
Loved this story! Yes it was a bit confusing at times but I just relistened to bits and it sorted itself out. Didn’t want it to end! The narration was great too. Very enjoyable.

Loved this!
An excellent book, well performed by Joanne Froggatt. There were some excellent twists in the story and the denouement, well hidden. Highly recommend it.

I really struggled with this one. it just seemed to plod along. I still wanted to finish it but found myself relieved when it was finished. luckily Joanne's narration made it enjoyable enough to persist. all I can say, sadly, is boring

Uncertain . . . .
I failed to get past the second hour of this book as I disliked the narration so much. No doubt some good writing but just could not get into the book due to this constant irritation.

Another triumph from Kate Morton.
I love all Kate Morton's books. My only critique in reviewing earlier books has been the use of Caroline Lee as the narrator. Her attempts at various regional accents always jars. Joanne Froggatt does an amazing job in narrating this. It was a pleasure to listen to.
Kate delivers another delicate, interwoven story that gently leads her reader back and forth through time until all is revealed and, as always, it's never what you expect. I can highly recommend it, without any reservations.
