Summary

Mourning the death of his father and gravely injured at the hands of the English, Jamie Fraser finds himself running with a band of mercenaries in the French countryside, where he reconnects with his old friend, Ian Murray. Both are nursing wounds, both have good reason to stay out of Scotland, and both are still virgins despite several opportunities to remedy that deplorable situation with ladies of easy virtue.

But Jamie's love life becomes infinitely more complicated - and dangerous - when fate brings the young men into the service of Dr. Hasdi, a Jewish gentleman who hires them to escort two priceless treasures to Paris. One is an old Torah; the other is the doctor's beautiful daughter, Rebekah, destined for an arranged marriage. Both Jamie and Ian are instantly drawn to the bride-to-be - but they might be more cautious if they had any idea who they're truly dealing with.

Virgin's. By Diana Gabaldon

Not so good as the Outlander series, but well worth a listen. It was good.

Another piece of the jigsaw.

Lovely voice of Allan Scott - Douglas, did this short book justice. Another piece of the Outlander series.

Before the series

I really enjoyed listening to Jamie's & Ians time away in France, this is not ever highlighted really especially in the TV show.

Background

I wish I had read this during the outlander series, it fills in a bit of background about the relationship between Ian and Jamie. Enjoyed it very much, shame it wasn't longer.

A good short for Gabaldon fans

I liked the narrator's Scots accent, which fitted the characters well. If you love Diana Gabaldon's other books, this will not disappoint, but if you haven't read them, this may be confusing to some.

Not as good as Outlander......

.....but nevertheless an interesting read if you have read all the Outlander books and want to know a bit more about Jamie and Ian in their early days. However if you've not read the Outlander series, i wouldn't bother.
